Fabulous Pizzas. Cool atmosphere. Draft Pints and pleasantly affordable. A true rival to Fatto A Mano.
I have visited Pizza Pilgrims in London before and remember it being reasonably priced with a cool decor/atmosphere and good pizzas. Finally got around to visiting the Brighton location and loved the experience!
A sprawling site, there are three floors. The top is Amalfi Coast themed and looked cute. The ground floor decor reminded me of American Pizzerias and has a relaxing, cool atmosphere. Finally they have a football pitch and foosball in the basement. Perfect for kids birthday parties and such a surreal addition you definitely have to check it out for yourself.
For entree we settled on olives. We were surprised by the addition of little rings of dough? They tasted interesting but I would personally have preferred straight olives. They have Camden Helles and Pale Ale on draft, which is a sound addition and sits in contrast to other Pizzerias in Brighton which offer 2/3 or bottles. I know what I prefer. They also have a solid wine, cocktails and spirits menu, all reasonably priced.
The pizzas are fantastic. The Margherita Extra-Extra was as described - pizza elevated. The green pesto and ball of burata turned an otherwise plain pizza choice into something special. My partner similarly enjoyed her Double Pepperoni and Hot Honey. The dough and crust on the pizzas was sensational. I definitely recommend ordering a crust dipper too. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see a more extensive vegetarian menu. However, they are open to making any pizza you desire, build-your-own style if needed.
Total cost for 2 people was £50 including service. This was for 2 pizzas, 2 drinks, crust dippers and entree. Very reasonable considering we were barely able to finish our pizzas and a similar price to Franco Manca / Fatto A Mano.
Overall I strongly recommend visiting if you love pizza, have kids or want a group booking. Great location, great pizza and...
Read moreWe had a large booking for a festive social and were deeply disappointed with the service at Pizza Pilgrims Brighton. Firstly, the tables were so cramped together that the staff were unable to easily serve the tables, leaving this to one of our table. We didn't receive any side plates without asking for them (only a few received at a time of asking), despite it being a sharing menu with side salads and shared pizzas. We had starters on the table before anyone had received any drinks and for the second round of drinks we had to find a staff member to ask to order. The feasting menu seemed quite a small amount of food considering the price, the amount of pizza was fine but starters / desserts didn't seem to be enough. We originally booked for 22 people, however I had emailed ahead of time and confirmed this would be 19 people, yet they still originally tried to charge for 22, although this was refunded. The timing of the food was completely off, we had starters as soon as we sat, then the first lot of pizza, we then waited 30-45 minutes for the rest of the pizza. After this, we were told we only had 15 minutes left on our booking (and would have to leave after 2 hours was up) when we hadn't been served dessert. We highlighted this to the manager who said it was because we hadn't finished the pizza (which we had only received just before and was still on the table). There didn't seem to be much in the way of apology for this or the lack of service and we were made to feel as though it was our fault. I n the end we were told we could have the desserts in take away boxes, but this didn't seem fair considering the timing was not our issue. The food itself was nice, but was completely overshadowed by the lack of service and apology for how we were treated. It's a shame because I have been to pizza pilgrims before and enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll be returning to the Brighton venue (I doubt the 18 other attendees...
Read moreIf Vicky isn’t already crowned the Queen of Pizza Pilgrims Brighton, then I’m starting a petition right now! From the moment I walked in, it was clear I was in the presence of customer service royalty.
Firstly, Vicky’s smile could light up the darkest of pizza ovens. She welcomed me like an old friend who’s just returned from an epic quest for the perfect pizza (spoiler: it’s right here at Pizza Pilgrims). Her enthusiasm was as fresh as the mozzarella on my Margherita, and just as delightful.
As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur (I mean, who isn’t?), I had questions – lots of them. What’s the secret ingredient in the dough? (It’s love, obviously.) How do you get the crust so perfectly crispy? (Magic, probably.) Vicky answered them all with the patience of a saint and the knowledge of a pizza sommelier.
But the true highlight was when she suggested trying the nduja pizza. “It’s got a kick,” she warned with a wink. And oh boy, did it! I was sweating like I’d run a marathon, but it was totally worth it. Vicky even brought me an emergency glass of milk – now that’s what I call above and beyond.
Her service was so impeccable that I half-expected her to serenade our table with an Italian opera. While that didn’t happen (maybe next time?), she did check in on us just the right amount – attentive but never intrusive.
In conclusion, if you want your pizza served with a side of impeccable service, a sprinkle of humor, and a dash of charm, then ask for Vicky at Pizza Pilgrims Brighton. She’s the real MVP – Most Valuable Pizza-server. Five stars,...
