Although Google deleted my previous review, I will repost it. Staying silent this time could mean that this situation will happen again, and another customer might suffer the same mistreatment.
Two weeks ago, I visited Churchill Square to follow up on an issue regarding misconduct by a store within the shopping center. The manager I spoke with, who identified herself as the security and complaints manager, informed me that the store was solely responsible for the situation and that Churchill Square had no involvement in matters occurring within individual stores. She dismissively told me, "If you're unhappy with the result, write an email and complain again." She also said, "It’s the security staff's job to remove customers when stores ask; they don’t decide, they just follow instructions. The tenants are our clients. They pay us, and we assist them by removing customers if necessary, even if it is not correct. I’ve given you my verbal response: we can do nothing about this."
While I understand that individual stores are responsible for their own customer service, I find it inappropriate for Churchill Square management to completely distance themselves from such situations. Should security staff blindly follow store instructions without considering whether customers are being treated fairly? Should they remove customers without valid reasons just because a store requests it? I find this response unreasonable and asked to escalate my concerns to a senior manager, which I believe is the standard procedure for unresolved issues.
Unfortunately, the manager asked me to leave the mall and prohibited me from speaking to other staff. She also instructed the customer service desk not to provide contact details for senior managers or directors, claiming it was impossible to meet with them.
To make matters worse, a security staff member rudely shouted at me, "Follow me, just to the gate!" and physically pushed me in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. He placed his hand on my back, stood very close to me, and pushed me forcefully with his hand and shoulder. I felt threatened and intimidated as he demanded I follow him to the gate. I was terrified at that moment and asked him to stop touching me. He only stopped when some customers began watching him. This behavior was completely unacceptable, and I cannot let it go unchallenged, as it could easily happen to another customer.
They called the police in an attempt to force me to leave, yet the responding officer was very understanding. He kindly assisted me in requesting to speak with a senior manager. However, the Churchill Square manager again refused. When I asked whether senior managers or regular staff were handling my case, her response was vague. She said, "Everyone knows about this case. Senior staff, directors—they all know about it." She then added that even if I sent 10 complaints, the response would remain the same.
Ironically, they blocked my previous email address to prevent further communication. It was only after I reached out to the Ingka Center that they restored my previous...
Read moreAlways previously enjoyed coming down to brighton to look round the shops and always felt safe in churchill square. But the last time i visited i only went in to use the loo (hadn't even started my shopping!) I'm disabled and carry a radar key so i used my own radar key to open the female disabled toilets (i was being watched and judged by nasty women in the queue for the main loos) but i went in. As i came out i went to shut and lock the door behind me but before i could a women pushed past me and forced the door open - i yelled at her oi you need a radar key to go in there but she slammed the door shut screaming i don't care. She frightend me and nearly trapped my fingers in the door bit as she forced the door open as i was trying to shut it she bent & twisted my wrist which badly hurt me. I was left shaking - went to customer services as wanted to ensure it was reported they got security within 10seconds the lady took all my details and then just let me walk off on my own so shaken up! No one offered to call me a taxi or phone a friend or family member for me - no one even bothered to ask what conditions i suffer with i walk with wheels so a mobility issue is obvious. I felt that was really badly disgraceful of churchill squares part but i thought they would ring me to then follow tis inccident up only they never have. They clearly do not care about a disabled person getting practically assuaulted while out shopping and don't bother to follow these things up. I was so shaken at the time i told them not too worry about calling thr police but with hindsight they should have done - i'm not even sure why they asked me should been automatic to call the police! I now don't feel safe going anywhere on my own thank you churchill square for ruining any confidence i have spent years building back up so i can go...
Read moreDepressing little shopping centre that consists of mostly shoe shops and jewellery/watch shops.
If you want to know how much pride or respect for customers any kind of establishment has, start with the customer facilities. Absolutely disgusting! Legitimately some of the worst public toilets I've ever used. If I was one of the stores with 10 grand watches in my window, I'd be disgusted with what the Churchill Square owners think is acceptable for my potential customers. It's almost as if they are actively trying to chase them off! Urinals that look worse than a pig trough, that overflows so often there is a permanent urine puddle stain on the floor. Cubicles that look as though they have never been cleaned. A smell so bad I've literally seen people gagging as they enter. Huge queue to get in because there isn't an adequate amount of facilities. There are two locations for toilets within the mall, you will normally only find one open at a time, which contributes to the problem with the large queues, especially for the female toilets. There used to be a stair lift for the toilets that required stairs, but this was removed some time ago, so if you have mobility issues, you will have to walk a maze through the food area first. Clearly whoever runs the place, does not give a toss about the people who shop there. I honestly don't know why the customers accept this treatment. Maybe they've never been to another shopping centre anywhere else and think this is standard, but it's not! It's...
