NO.68 Coffee House — Restaurant in England

I visit this place all the time and usually love it.

Today was really disappointing, I was really unhappy when I left.

We arrived and ordered coffee and sat through the back. 20 mins later no coffee, and when I went to enquire I could tell everyone who had arrived in the queue after me had been served and left already, so I’d be forgotten. When I asked to change it to a take away instead (I’d run out of time) the staff didn’t know what my order was. I then said could I just have a couple of the items and cancel one, seeing as they are not made yet. I was told they couldn’t do refunds as management were not there. Which I think is poor.

After all of this I was given two americanos to take away - not what I ordered. It was clearly not a good day for the staff they seemed overwhelmed. There was another table next to us who also got bored of waiting and asked for their coffees to go.

It seemed like the staff were not serving the coffee In the correct sequence that people had ordered them. I would suggest for future busy periods that staff stop taking new orders and serve the people who have paid and are waiting, then carry on taking new orders. I would also suggest management are present at weekends or give the staff capabilities to do refunds, as I was really not that bothered about the hot drinks by the time I left, after waiting 20 mins I would have preferred money back.

Such a shame as have always loved this...

I’ve always been a big fan of No68, it’s my go to coffee shop and the one I always recommend to friends. Relaxed classy welcoming environment, great choice of drinks & the cakes are something special. Staff are always friendly & helpful. Love going in to meet with friends, sit on my own with a coffee after the crazy school run or venture in with the kids after a couple of hours at the park. I normally visit this coffee shop during the weekday and always have a great experience. Great coffee with good service, but when I visited this coffee shop on Sunday (03/11) for my usual takeaway Latte, guess what? I had to wait for like 25-30 minutes. There were only two staff making coffee, taking payment, and going out to get milk from a nearby corner shop. The whole place was a total mess.

You guys are definitely short-staffed. I don't think I am going to visit again on the weekend, and just to let you know that I didn't enjoy my latté at all after 30...
