Really disappointed with the service/food received at my most recent visit to this cafe, ordered 4 different meals, 3 of which were correct and satisfactory. However, 1 meal came out uncooked - a panini so not dangerous or anything but un-pressed/not toasted and stone cold (I guess it can happen, no big deal) Returned meal to kiosk, they were apogetic and even gave me a free drink on the house, a few minutes later exactly the same panini came out this time only it had been pressed/toasted. Took a few bites only to then realise it was missing the main ingredient all together - I didn't notice this first time round to be fair. That wasn't the biggest issue to me, my issue was the way I overheard a member of staff say to another "What's her problem this time". Was offered a replacement panini or refund to which I chose a refund given the fact my family had already good as finished their meals by this point. Only I was then given my refund in cash as opposed to the original card method that was paid on without any discussion on the matter. When we'd payed what I would call over the odds for a cafe meal at our local park, I felt the overall service was poor. In the time we were there many tables remained uncleaned or cleared, I'd heard others have issues with their orders, our food wasnt overly great and generally felt the all round visit was disappointing. Been using this cafe for years, don't recall it ever...

Unfortunately this is the only place to get food and drink in the park other than the ice cream van in the other part of the park across the road. The service is an absolute shambles and the staff have no clue, no situational awareness and no interpersonal skills. They are disorganised, slow and there seems to be no system in place.
I waited almost 15 minutes to order an ice cream (I was second in the queue) and watched the manager stop the server from completing the order for the person in front of me to deliver hot food to a table outside?! When I spoke to him about this he told me they were ‘short staffed’, despite there being 5/6 people ‘serving’. This is not an isolated incident. I have taken to bringing a travel mug of coffee to the park rather than have to pay and experience such terrible service. I’ll pick up an ice cream from a shop on the way to the park in future.
The toilets are also disgusting and ALWAYS smell of urine. When I pointed this out today I was told it was just about to be cleaned. It always smells like that.
This place can only attribute its success to being the only café in the park. What a shame they can’t seem to...
Read moreI visited Abington Park Cafe on Wednesday 16th August to meet a friend for a catch up. I ordered a cappuccino and a cup of tea to takeaway. When I was asked to pay £6.60, I thought this was a bit steep for a small coffee and tea but I was talking to my friend at the time and didn’t want to question the cost in front of her as it was my treat.
Afterwards, when I got home, I looked online and saw I had been charged for a large tea and coffee instead of the small which I received (a difference of 80p). Disappointed that I had been overcharged, I called to inform the manager (Tony Ansell) who was not available to speak to. The person on the phone took my number and told me Tony would call me back to discuss this concern about being overcharged when he got back. I never received a call.
Needless to say, I will not be returning to this expensive cafe because to overcharge customers for the drinks they order is not...
