No35 Harrogate — Restaurant in England

Update: we know coffee and drink pour over (what was referred to as aeropress on the reg). We also prefer Americanos, actual Americanos compared to what is served here. Based on the response from the business, in which they would prefer to argue about how I like my coffee, downgrading the review from what was a 4 star rating. I should note that we've tried their coffee before, and it lacked flavor. This review is not based on one experience. It's based on other visits, trying different items with hopes it would be better. Also worth noting, we own a small business and thrive off of customer feedback. We never argue with customers about their preferences in person, which was done or online, which was also done. A customer may not always be right, but they are never wrong.

Origanl review: If we were just rating the coffee, we'd give it 3 stars. The coffee lacks flavor. We noticed they don't (or didn't while we were there) tamp down the espresso, which reduced pressure from water passing through the grounds, and is probably why the flavor was meh. It is sometimes difficult to judge the quality of a coffee shop by the exterior and even what machine is on the bar.

I walked around Harrogate passing by more than a few coffee shops which all look promising, with nice baked goods on offer. However, you look closer and some have a super-automatic in the background. While they aren’t terrible, it shows that the coffee is not the star of the show.

No35 Harrogate. Now we’re talking. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of baked goods. The coffee is right up there with the best of third wave (if that means anything to you, to me it beans balanced, nuanced coffee that is delicious) offerings. They also have a gorgeous La Marzocco on the bar.

Having come to Harrogate for many years to the Christmas and Summer Gift Shows, I always go to No.35 for coffee. It is always the highlight of the visit! The coffee is always amazingly consistent in terms of the complex depth of taste that is generated from the making process. These people really really do know how to make brilliant coffee. I don't know of another place where it is consistently made to such a high standard. I know how hard this is to do because I also run a cafe and shop. The music and people vibe is to die for and I would imagine that any negative comments would be based on jealousy and nothing else. It really is the best coffee...
