Ice Scoop Gelato — Restaurant in England

Taken a few days to do this review as I didn't know where else to write other than just eat app which I've already done ... plus I've been working

placed my order between 7.20pm and 7.50pm on Saturday 2nd August via just eat

it said estimated time was 20-35 mins

got 2 scoops of gelato twice as I was getting it for two people me and my partner .

got to the 45 min mark and I let them off as they may of stuck in traffic due to road works plus we were in knaresborough so they did have Abit further to go

so I gave them a ring to ask if it had been sent off , and it hadn't been made up yet according to the lady I spoke to

so she apologized and said it will be sent out in next 5 mins so I said ok no problem

quite Abit of time goes by and nothing appears. at this point I've lost track of when I ordered

my partner is asking what am I waiting for ( I was getting it as a surprise for him by the way )

to which I then had to ruin the surprise by telling him as he could see I was distracted by something

so I rang up again at that point ( which was I think 20 mins after the first phone call ) and they said a driver has been sent out be with you in next 10 mins , apologized again and mentioned they have had technical issues with the online orders

finally came at 9.25pm and I said thank you to the driver for it

and advised him to say when he gets back. , if they had technical issues with the online orders at store maybe the public should of been informed somehow

never had issues before with ice scoop , this is my first issue

but I wasn't best pleased with how long it took and there wasn't any info about the technical issues anywhere ( email , facebook etc ) and that I had to ruin the surprise for my partner

On a good point it was frozen and not a puddle

We were visiting Harrogate for the weekend and thought we would pop in here for cheeky treat after an amazing roast dinner. I have previously worked in an ice cream parlour and was taught to give the best customer service, we did not experience this at all, the servers were rude and seemed bored and uninterested. I ordered the Brownie Royale and I started eating it, one of the ice creams was meant to be chocolate but was banana, i absolutely hate banana especially in ice cream! I asked my friend to try just to double check and she verified that it was banana. I called the unenthusiastic server over and he just stared at me and the ice cream. He kept telling me it wasn’t banana then he said oh yes it should be chocolate no real apology. He took my plate away and bought it back 5 mins later, all the other ice cream had partly melted, he had taken off the banana ice cream and replaced it with a chocolate scoop. Great. I had been ordering from Harrogate Ice Scoop Gelato for the past 3 years, my last order being back in March 2023 (I moved to wetherby). Tonight I nipped in for my usual guilty indulgence to take away. Just by the taste, look, quality of the food and the customer service I received this evening, it has obviously changed owner. Ice cream is bland with no colour (how is banana cream pie ice cream a faint pink?) (previously wasn’t), the strawberry cheesecake was plastic, no flavour and no where near as creamy as it used to be. My partner had the ‘brownie cookie dough’ as always, except tonight it looks like chocolate chip with brownies chucked on top with a bit of chocolate sauce (this was definitely not like this last time). Was the best desert place in Harrogate, it is now the worst. Will go to spoilt in future. If you buy/import cheap and tacky food your customers will know about it, especially the loyal ones.
