Went here with my dad last night for a birthday meal.. we waited 30-40 minutes for the main meal and my dad ordered a lamb and chicken Shish and I ordered a lamb and when they brought out two chicken and lamb shish… so I had to wait even longer for my lamb shank. This is as well how can you even mess that up if we was the only people on the restaurant the whole time we went there and he wrote it down :( the lamb shank was terrible and I’m like 99% sure it was microwaved as it come out 5-10 mins after they messed up with bringing me the wrong meal… I even asked the waiter about it being microwave and he tried to deny it. I won’t be coming back here ever gain it was awful .. my dad wasn’t happy with his meal either… should have just stuck with MEVAN at the top of town as they always do things correct and the portion sizes are worth the money and the food is actually very up to standard there… you live and...
Read moreAs it was our first visit to Number One Kitchen my wife and I decided on the set meal for 2. It consisted of a selection of cold mezzo starters followed by a hot mixed grill.
The service was friendly. The waiter explained what was in the cold mezzo, which was fi rest class. The same was true of the mixed grill, very generous portions of lamb and chi Chen shush kebab and kofte, all beautifully cooked, served with a Turkish salad.
The whole meal was authentic Turkish cuisine of a very high standard. The quantities were so generous we had to ask for two containers to take home what we could not eat. We enjoyed a second meal at home the following evening.
The meal was excellent value at £55 including a drink each.

My wife and I agreed to wait, but even getting a drink was an issue—he was reluctant to serve us anything as he also wanted to eat. I rattled off four drinks from their own menu—he was out of every single one. Not one alternative offered, just a shrug.
At that point, we’d seen enough. Walked out, straight to Mevan down the road—absolutely packed, buzzing with people, service like night and day.
