As a dedicated patron of Steel's Corner House in Cleethorpes for quite some time, I recently decided to broaden my culinary horizons based on the enthusiastic recommendations from friends and colleagues. The establishment that caught my attention and beckoned me back three times in the past week is none other than the delightful Ocean Fish Bar.
From the moment I walked through the doors of Ocean Fish Bar, I was greeted by a welcoming atmosphere that resonated with the coastal charm of Cleethorpes. What truly set this establishment apart was the lightning-quick service that accompanied the entire dining experience. The staff at Ocean Fish Bar seamlessly combined efficiency with friendliness, ensuring that each dish arrived promptly without sacrificing the warmth and attentiveness that enhance the dining experience.
One noteworthy incident during my visits showcased the commendable service at Ocean Fish Bar. On one occasion, the squid in my order arrived slightly undercooked. However, the professionalism and grace displayed by the staff in promptly addressing the issue were truly commendable. They remedied the situation with utmost courtesy, swiftly replacing the dish with perfectly cooked squid. To my surprise and delight, they went above and beyond by offering complimentary drinks as a gesture of goodwill. This incident demonstrated not only their commitment to culinary excellence but also their dedication to customer satisfaction.
The decision to deviate from my usual haunt was met with the promise of a new gastronomic adventure, and Ocean Fish Bar certainly delivered. The star of the show at Ocean Fish Bar is undoubtedly their expertly cooked fish. The crispiness of the batter adds a satisfying crunch to each bite, creating a symphony of textures that delights the palate. The portions, while not as gargantuan as those at Steel's, are substantial and fulfilling, striking a perfect balance that leaves you satisfied without feeling overly indulgent.
While I had reservations about venturing away from the comfort of Steel's, Ocean Fish Bar's offerings not only met but exceeded my expectations. The commitment to quality ingredients and skilled preparation was evident in every bite, and I found myself relishing in the newfound variety in my culinary experiences.
One standout feature at Ocean Fish Bar that left an indelible mark on my taste buds was their selection of homemade puddings. As a dessert enthusiast, I couldn't resist indulging in their delightful offerings. The apple pie, in particular, stole the show with its perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, coupled with a flaky crust that crumbled with every forkful. Each bite felt like a comforting embrace, reminiscent of homemade goodness that transports you back to simpler times.
In planning a visit to Ocean Fish Bar, it's wise to consider reserving a table, especially on weekends, evenings, and Fridays. The popularity of this culinary gem is evident in the bustling ambiance, and securing a reservation ensures a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
While the portions might not match the hearty generosity of Steel's Corner House, Ocean Fish Bar compensates with a focus on quality, precision, and a dash of culinary creativity. The decision to explore this culinary gem was met with not only a satisfying meal but a newfound appreciation for the diverse flavors that Cleethorpes has to offer.
In conclusion, Ocean Fish Bar has earned its place as a worthy contender in Cleethorpes' culinary landscape. It may have swayed this once-loyal patron away from the familiar confines of Steel's Corner House, but it did so with finesse, leaving me eager to explore more of what this charming seaside establishment has to offer...
Read moreThe Ocean Fish Bar is on St Peter's avenue cleethorpes. It's a quite large contemporary modern restaurant with a bar and a takeaway attached. The restaurant itself is very stylised, warm, well lit and very clean. Tables with movable chairs with music in the background. The menu's, there were two plus a special's board are diverse and extensive which includes an good selection of desert,a children's menu and also a pensioner special,so lot's of choice. I went for the jumbo haddock, chips, peas bread and butter and of course a pot of tea. It arrived promptly,a good portion of chips, decent peas the fish however wasn't the largest or the best quality I've eaten recently and at over £12 for the whole meal wasn't the cheapest, not bad by any means just not the nicest. (But then what qualifies as jumbo?). The staff are lovely here being very friendly and happy to help.Your shown to a table, you make your selection then go to the bar to place your order and pay upfront, simple. They accept card payments here. This restaurant has really good accessibility and really good restrooms with disabled facilities and baby changing facilities. There's a car park across the road. A really nice place to eat with a pleasant atmosphere and family friendly. It serves alcohol, with draught beer and a selection of wine to choose from. A popular place with the local community and holidaymakers.Like a lot of the local restaurant's it gets really busy during the holiday season. It has a 5* food hygiene rating. Update February 2002. Popped in for lunch today, very busy this Thursday lunchtime, but I was seated in the bar area for a few minutes until a table became available, fully operational as before, the staff are very friendly and obliging and the table service prompt. One small thing that I hadn't noticed before was a small pair of scissors are provided in sauce sachet bowl, which I thought was a nice touch of customer care. 👍 I ordered a regular Haddock, chips, garden peas and a pot of tea. The tea arrived very quickly and my meal shortly after. The fish was a good sized fillet, with nice crispy batter, good white coloured flesh which was a little on the wet side however it was a quality piece of Haddock and tasted delicious plenty of flavour. 👌 I paid £8.50 for my meal and a further £2.00 for...
Read moreThis lovely , clean and smart restaurant is run like a well oiled machine . From being greeted at the door, to be taken to our table and right though to leaving the professionalism was evident . We hadn't booked and it was a busy lunchtime however the lovely lady at the front desk found a table for two very quickly. She explained that someone would be along to take our order shortly . Very soon another lady arrived to see if we were ready to order. I loved that we didn't spend ages trying to signal that we were ready like you do in some restaurants that seem to leave you ages before taking your order I also liked that we paid at the table at the time of ordering (so many times in other restaurants it feels like you wait forever for someone to bring the bill) The food was brought out (again not waiting too long) and was delicious. A member of staff enquired half way through if everything was OK and very soon after we had finished eating came to clear the plates and ask if we wanted a dessert menu/more drinks. We never felt rushed . It felt like we were given just the right amount of attention whilst also being left in peace to enjoy our food. Beacuse we'd already paid we were able to finish our drinks at our own pace and able to leave without flagging down someone to pay. Every single member of staff was friendly and polite. It's a business that should feel proud of their attention to detail and efficiency, as well as the...
