Old Waggon & Horses — Restaurant in England

Visited this establishment on my first night out in Newbury, taking my team out for a staff night out. Door staff were pleasant enough, atmosphere was good, despite being warned by many locals beforehand that it is a "rough" place where it regularly kicks off. All was well until I went to the bar and asked the female bar staff member, politely, "bacardi and coke with ice please". She proceeded to pour my drink but with no ice, when I then asked for ice, she turned to me and said, "please!" To which I responded, "I said please before, but please can I have ice?" She gave me such attitude and was so impolite and rude that I was left genuinely upset. The door staff seem genuinely nice, but the bar staff are extremely poor.

To summarise, if you're a mature adult on a night out who expects to be treated as a customer, avoid this venue because their staff will treat you like a delinquent, irrelevant of how you actually compose yourself.

Il posto è attraente per la musica live nei Week-end ma non ci sono parole per descrivere l'accoglienza ricevuta da parte del gestore che si è dimostrato una persona indisponente e la ragazza che era dietro al bancone? Con il corpo era lì ma con la mente chissà dove?!!!! Prima di quella sera ero a conoscenza solo della legge che vieta l'ingresso nei locali con i bimbi dopo le 21.00. Faccio questa premessa perché mi son trovata ad entrare per la necessità di allattare il bimbo che aveva fame con la scusa che mio marito e dei suoi colleghi erano lì per una birra. Erano le 18.30 e mi trovavo a spasso con il mio bimbo di 4 MESI. Dentro il locale una sola persona...entro con il passeggino, era ben visibile il bimbo, passiamo davanti al bancone con la cameriera fantasma e ci accomodiamo fuori. La ragazza non dice niente che ero con il bimbo. Si prendono le birre, si paga, nel mentre allatto ed in un attimo compare il proprietario che ci dice che il bimbo non poteva stare spiegandoci che aveva la licenza per vendere solo alcool e non cibo. Siccome l'alcool non si può vendere ai minori di 18 anni il bimbo (4 mesi!!!!!!!)non poteva stare. Va bene è la legge, anche se stupida perché avete mai visto un bimbo di 4 mesi bere alcool? Io no. Ma va bene così, CHIEDIAMO SCUSA e chiediamo un secondo per finire di allattare. La risposta?: "No, fuori ora!". 1- perché la ragazza dietro al bancone non ci ha bloccati subito? Ma ha permesso di farci sedere e consumare lasciando praticamente i bicchieri pieni? E si perché non abbiamo mica finito le birre? Ce ne siamo dovuti andare via subito? E i soldi se li sono tenuti! 2- sarà anche la legge ma l'umanità e la gentilezza dove sono? 3- il cervello è stato creato per ragionare e non per essere burattini. Credo che in nessun altro paese mi sarebbe stato vietato di allattare nonostante la legge che, per un bimbo di 4-mesi, è davvero assurda e dimostra nuovamente quanto il cervello non...

Good location but useless staff. They advertise football so we went in to watch a match & have a drink. Bullyboy regulars would just wander behind the bar & change the channel & the barman just stood there not reacting. We complained the 1st time it happened & he changed it back. The last time was on the 85th minute of the match & this time he just hid so he didn't have to deal with it. They don't care about encouraging new visitors as long as the 3 or 4 regulars get their way. It wasn't even as though there was any other matches being shown at the time, just...
