So, where do i begin.... pre-booked a table and was seated next to a family with screaming children despite seating area being virtually empty. I appreciate children do cry but have a bit of common sense when seating customers! Asked if we wanted a few minutes to look at menu, then was abandoned and had to ask several times for service. After twenty plus minutes, finally got a servers attention. We got our first drink forty minutes after arrival! Waited forever for food which turned up stone cold. Food sent back and arrived back hot. I went for a bacon and cheese burger. Burger was not freshly cooked and was low grade, greasy meat. I suspect the burger was either precooked and frozen or cooked earlier in the day. (Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares sprang to mind).....Either way, was absolutely disgusting. Soggy onion rings and burger bun completed the meal. Left 50% of the same and only ate the other 50% as was starving after waiting nearly an hour and a half for food. Asked for condiments, unsuccessfully waited 15 minutes, and then went on a reconnaissance mission as request totally ignored. Complimentary dessert was kindly offered for issues. Ordered a dessert of apple pie which had been heated in a microwave!. Who heats pastry in a microwave? These are meant to be trained cooks in the kitchen.... I just hope the food hygiene is better than the appalling food! Pastry was soggy and served with a desert spoon of ice-cream. Apples and gunk filling looked like wallpaper paste. Drink order turned up incorrect, was asked several times by different servers what we had just ordered and had to keep repeating an order for two people.... Asked for another drink, waited 30 minutes to arrive. So, in a four hour period, managed to get 3 drinks, terrible meal and dreadful dessert. The staff were pleasant enough and tried to rectify continued issues but completely disorganised, managed to ignore attempted contact, appalling wait times, virtually inedible food and a catalogue of errors! The only thing that kept me there was good company! I can't believe this place flies the Green King Banner, but tbf, I've had similar experiences in one of their local places recently. Obviously, their local standards seem to have disappeared which is insulting to their clientele. Particularly, if they think acceptable to serve rubbish to paying customers and supply nonexistent service. They used to be renowned for good food and well kept beer and it's somewhat insulting they think it's acceptable to provide such shocking service. I have not rated as a 1 purely as food was changed and server, when finally engaged, did try and...
Read moreI go here quite often for meals, the staff are always friendly and accommodating, the food menu is vast and always cooked well.
The challenge menu is always good to see someone try them.
The pub itself has had quite a few changes over the years and they have what I would say as one of the best outdoor seating and play areas in the area.
This is truly a family themed pub, allowing young and old to enjoy the surroundings and to relax alone or with friends and family.
Inside the bar has 2 pool tables and a darts area, they also have cash win machines and machines that the kids get a guarantee win from.
The tables are cleaned regularly and toilets are in good order, I would say watch out for the gents toilets while washing your hands and you get a splash back from the force of the water.
All in all a great place to visit and I will be heading back again on Sunday with family.
So I headed back down today with my Family and decided to try the Greenking App, first off I would advise you to download the App before you arrive as this will speed up the process.
The advantage to using the app was the fact that you could sit and wait for your order, I would say the food order took me longer than ordering at the bar.
That being said it was painless and from ordering I had my food at the table within 20 mins, bar service help to cut down on waiting time at the bar and keeping everyone covid safe, also alot quicker than waiting at a busy bar.
Food was spot on as normal, my only fault was the steak ordered was for a medium and it came out medium well done.
Staff were in full swing and all dressed up for Halloween and all looked the part.
Tonight they had the rock and roller bingo running via the local DJ, good night was had by all customers.
I only found out tonight also that they do delivery via JUST EAT so that will be a good one to try another time.
Well done...
Read moreCame in for an early dinner with a friend after a long day out. We’ve been here many times before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere, so decided this was the place to go. Unfortunately, this visit was not quite up to the same standards we’ve experienced on previous occasions. The food took 45 minutes to arrive, which we felt was quite a long time considering it was not that busy. When it did arrive, everything was piping hot and well presented, however the burgers were SO dry. We were starving at this point, so just ate it and didn’t want to complaint (we couldn’t bear waiting another 30-40 mins for a new one). It was also unfortunate but there were lots of chicken running around the pub screaming and making lots of noise. We understand it’s not the fault of the staff, however we feel that after a period of time they should’ve spoken to the parents and asked them to keep their children at the table, as there are other diners trying to enjoy their meals. All-in-all not a great visit, however as mentioned before we come here a lot and this wouldn’t stop us returning… hopefully for a much...
