Avoid like the plague! After 2 visits from heath and safty weeks later still birds nesting inside above the tables flying over you while you eat inside. Bird poo on tables too... (REVIEW FROM WEEKS AGO)-The first thing is the prices. WOW, a fine dining price of £6 pounds for 1 soggy undercooked cheese toastie, another 6 pounds for another undercooked cheese, and what looked and tasted like an old ham toastie, £3.25 for a small bowl of chips that were properly the best thing there, and how can you charge £2 to £3 pounds for a less than 1 pound bottle of pop? £21 just for the above. To top it all off, as we sat down, we were greeted by birds flying down past us at the table inside. A total of 6 birds were frying inside, pooing everywhere as they went in and out of the kitchen at a time when Stanley park has some of its HIGHEST cases of BIRD FLU ever! THIS IS WHY YOU MUST ORDER BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN!
I mean, this is a serious health hazard!
When I spoke to the manager (THE OWNERS' DAD), he was so rude, telling me the food had been taken off my table as we spoke, so he could not do anything about the quality of the food. I replied, "The lady that just told me to speak to you about it is taking it away as we speak!" And his response to my claim that it was not worth £21 was, "Well, the customers here have spent more money on tea and coffee than you have!"I mean, what sort of response is that to a customer?
While I appreciated that it may be hard to stop them from coming in as they will not close the door, he informed me that they had been there since 8.30 in the morning! All six birds were flying around the kitchen and tables inside all day and he thought it was "Okay, what can I do?" was his reply.
Well, my friend, first of all, talk to customers like humans, not like poo. Second, don't leave your side and back doors open all day for them to come in. Third, if it's a big problem, get a revolving door at the front problem solved! It's not hard! You charge enough for several revolving doors. If you want people to pay top dollar for normal, inexpensive bread, cheese, etc. that's not even cooked correctly, then make sure they can eat it at a table inside that hasn't had any bird poops on it!
I WOULD RECOMMEND THE OWNER PREVENTS HER "MANAGER " FROM BEING INVOLVED IN THE RESTERAUNT AS HE CLEARLY DOES NOT CARE, NOR DO THE OTHER OLDER STAFF LIKE THE LADY IN WHITE WHO TOOK THE PLATES KNOWING I WAS GOING TO THE MANAGER. THEY REALLY DID NOT CARE.
Staff training on customer relations is highly needed. Along with a health and safety course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so shocked at the fact that they were totally fine with the birds inside and did not care about any customer that had an issue. The way this man and woman spoke to me was shocking. They were very rude people, and as I can see here, there are lots of other people saying the same thing. Lots of other people, all saying the same thing on a lot of the review platforms! He even followed me out and stood staring at me with another member of staff as if to intimidate me as you can see from this photo then with the grey hair. At all times I spoke calmly to him and even tried to get him to see it from a customers point of view also pointing out the insults he said to me however he clearly was not bothered about the company while he carried on telling me how theres nothing wrong with birds poo on the floor etc he was spitting as he talked obviously cant be helped when your raising your voice to a customer so if you do go and complain stand a few feet back!......
Read moreSharing on behalf on my traumatised mother that I have just picked up from Stanley park after a day out at the park with her two grandchildren.
She visited the cafe for a trip to the toilet and an ice cream. The lady that 'greeted' them referred to herself as the "manager", as of 24th June 2024. Unfortunately, she demonstrated no appreciation for nor provided the delivery of anything that can be likened to the sort of customer service one would expect from a 'manager'.
Was she having a bad day, does she believe she doesn't work in a local park cafe in one of the most deprived parts of the entire UK or is she just plain rude - I'm not sure?
What I know is that my mother is one of the nicest people I've ever met and yet she was forced to speak up to this 'manager' to ask to stop treating her so appallingly.
My mother reports this lady wouldn't stop hovering around the three of them. She had the nerve to ask them what they were doing simply by being in the premises. She told young kids where they have to sit, she allowed a frail elderly woman to drag a heavy baby seat across the entire cafe. My mother reported she had an air of importance about her which is hard to take seriously given that this couldn't be further away from being the 'manager' of the Ritz.
After numerous intrusions, obnoxious statements and feeling micro managed my mother felt she needed to ask for her to leave her alone. Upon doing so my.mother reported a noticeable difference indicating that this 'manager' was playing out her agenda for whatever reason.
Lesson for any staff working there - offer the exact opposite customer service to whoever this so called 'manager' and it won't be long before you are the legitimate manager.
Customers - if a certain self professed 'manager' makes you feel uneasy do not be afraid to speak up, she will instantly cease the act.
To the cafe management - BEWARE! You cannot maintain your reputation with a rogue 'manager' such as this. Should this be my business a swift investigation and performance review would ensue for your reputations sake.
Unfortunately anyone that upsets my mother seriously offends me and me, my friends and family are likely to avoid your establishment simply as I feel you don't deserve the value of my hard earned cash. For all you know I could be you highest spending repeat curlstomer (P.S. I'm not but you wouldn't know that)
My previous reviews and experiences have always reported a satisfactory experience and I only I hope I find myself with a need to bisitnthis establishment so it can demonstrate the improvements it has made.
Happy to chat further...
Read moreDidn’t even get through the doorway when a female member of staff approached me. My small assistance dog was on my lap and I was in my powerchair. The woman straight away said ‘you can’t bring that dog in here’. I replied ‘she’s an assistance dog’, she replied ‘doesn’t matter. We only allow guide dogs’ and I said ‘guide dogs are a type of assistance dog and it’s against the law for you to not let us in’ and she said ‘well, we’ve had other assistance dogs come in and bite a little girl and staff so we don’t allow assistance dogs’. I replied ‘well, they obviously weren’t real assistance dogs then and, no offence, but those incidents are nothing to do with me. You’re breaking the law by not allowing us to come in. We’re covered by the disability act’. I then went to show her a leaflet I keep on me that explains the law around assistance dogs and access rights etc but she refused to even looked at it and walked off.
I left in tears, which then made my chronic nerve pain worse. I have scar tissue wrapped around my abdominal nerves which means that any movement is painful so, getting all tense and upset obviously makes my pain worse aswell.
Shortly after, a male member of staff came out and started giving excuses for the woman’s behaviour (he said she was his daughter). I won’t say exactly what the excuse was that he gave as it was personal but apparently something in her personal life was causing her to have a tough day. No offence though, if it’s a difficult time, maybe she shouldn’t have been at work as she simply cannot treat customers that way. As someone with chronic nerve pain, I spend a lot of my time bedridden and so I was very excited to finally go to Stanley Park for the first time. I have recently been struggling with my depression (due to the pain) and wanted to get out to boost my morale but now I regret ever leaving the house. It’s a shame because Stanley Park is supposed to be the best park in the UK and I can see why as it’s stunning but considering this is the only cafe there, it was a huge let down to be treated the way I was. I felt/feel discriminated against, humiliated, rejected and downright disgusted with the treatment I received. Neither myself or my dog had done anything wrong. Public places, like cafes, are within their rights to ask an assistance dog to leave if it is misbehaving but this was simply not the case in this incident. I will be escalating this.
Ps. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I can’t comment on the food or what the place is like really considering I wasn’t even...
