I picked up a myriad of items from here as its the closest "bakery" near me. As a person who loves to cook & bake at home i was very disapointed if i am honest, i ordered everything i have previously baked before and i hope the owner reads here as i just wanted to give some constructive criticism.
Sausage Roll/pasty - the pastry on both items was not crispy or flaky it was a huge let down really as from the reviews here the sausage roll was the most talked about item on the menu. The sausage meat was a bit tasteless and dry - i really did expect more if i'm honest.
mille-feuille - It was HUGE - The main point of a mille-feuille is to have a mouthful of everything simultaneously - icing, pastry & creme pat - It was too big to have a mouthful of everything... The creme pat was tasteless and it didn't look like fresh Vanilla was used, which i would have expected considering the price point. I would have expected quality over quantity, as the Mark Bennets Moto is - "Our entire patisserie is handmade in our Lilliput bakery using only the finest ingredients; we tend not to over decorate our products, at Patisserie Mark Bennett we feel itās all about the taste."
Millionaire shortbread - It was OK, however the caramel was tasteless
Cornflake choco cluster - this was nice, you cant really go wrong here.
Overall i did expect better from this eatery considering the price points & their moto about taste! - I could tell components were not cooked to a high standard, as most items were tasteless, i doubt i will be returning as i was very underwhelmed. I did notice most people were ordering just coffee's when i went in - So i wish i had ordered a coffee as that seemed to be popular. If i can make it at home better for a fraction of the cost it really annoys me how they can sell these items and stating they are the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to absolutely LOVE this place and often stopped on the way home for bread and some cakes. It was never the cheapest of places but their cakes and sourdough were second to none and I loved chatting to the staff whilst they made our coffees. But my last visit was really the exact opposite to what I was used to. The person serving me was rude, unpleasant and clearly unhappy to be at work. She was chatting to her colleague next to the coffee machine knowing that I am waiting to be served. She got my order wrong and when I pointed it out she said āwell thatās because you didnāt say thatā⦠So I replied that I did and asked for her to correct it. After I paid for the rest of the order I asked if I can get a bag. āBags are not free, you have to pay 10pā.. that is really not how you talk to people. She deliberately chucked all the goods to the paper bag knowing pretty well I had two cakes in there. So one of the cakes crumbled, the other got stuck to the paper bag. It was not a pleasant experience and I am not keen to return⦠It makes me sad as we were supporting the business right from the start at almost all of...

We bought a mile feuille, sausage roll, Almond Tart and another pastry that we didn't even give a chance to try...
The sausage roll had an aftertaste of either too much dried herbs that made it taste bitter. The puff pastry was like a quick puff pastry or a cheaply made one
The mille feuille was not flaky at all. It was soggy in the middle so it was either rushed on assembly while still warm or 1 or 2 days old. It was very unpleasant and the custard was cheaply made.
Almond Tart was OK
Literally binned everything after a bite... what hurt the most was the prices. For what we paid, the quality of the food needs to...
