Having had 2 restaurants close in Amesbury this year its great to have one opening and especially when its as good as this.
Parking is available in the car park just past the restaurant on the right but beware, charges apply 24/7 but at least its only £1.20 for 2 hours.
The restaurant is very well laid out with a mix of tables for 2, 4 and 6 and the tables are sufficiently spaced out not to intrude on each other. The decor is great with the look and feel of an Italian restaurant/trattoria.
I started with the antipasto misto which had a great selection of meats, mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and an excellent tapenade for which there was some lovely crispy bread.
For my main course I had the Strozzapreti Pugliese which on arrival looked rather small but actually turned out to be the perfect portion size. The hand twisted pasta was a perfect vehicle to absorb the rich sauce and there was plenty of pieces of lovely sausage mixed in with the pasta and spinach. The flavours were excellent and I really enjoyed it - especially with a good helping of parmigiana
We had a superb bottle of primitivo to accompany the food although I think the wine list needs some more wines at the cheaper end of the wine list.
Service was very friendly and efficient and it was a delightful meal and we cant wait to return and try more of the menu.
The meal for 3 of us with 2 starters, 3 mains and the bottle of wine was just over £80 which was excellent value for such a...
Read moreWonderful booked a table for four and a 6 month old. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who showed us to a table with the high chair already in place. 1 star for that
The young lady who served us fantastic happy to interact with the little one put a smile on his face so that is another star for very friendly staff all of them were smiling.
Waiting time for food was reasonable we did order two starters so there was the right amount of time between courses. Another star.
Food taste was perfect full of flavour sensible portions and a hit with the little one who had various bits of plates. The pizza looked really pleasing on the eye not burnt my dad enjoyed it. My mum was proper chuffed with her lamb. Brother finished all his chicken for him that means it was good. I really liked my calzone (not sure if that's how you spell it) but it tasty bit more spicy than I was expecting but lovely all the same so that's another star.
Price pretty reasonable so that is another star would give it one more if I could for how well presented the place is very welcoming would recommend.
Only reason for not having desert was little one was tired but the ones I saw going out to tables near by were being devoured happily plan to go back and try for myself. Very...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time and were not really sure what to expect. I ordered the pizza and my wife order a couple of starter dishes. The food was fast and it was delicious, I've not had pizza that good in a long time.
My wife really enjoyed her food and the service was good as well. About two weeks later we ordered a pizza each for pick up and not disappointed.
We would go back and recommend it to others.
Updated since: In fact, we did go back to get takeaway and it was not as good, neither of us enjoyed the food despite ordering the same meals. Thought we would try yet again because it was so good the first time, so I there, it was about 10 minutes to opening time, I walked in and was told they are not open to come back. The chinese opposite had the same opening time and were more welcoming so I went there instead. Why have your door open for customers to walk in only to be turn away 10 minutes to opening time. A little advice, if you value your customers, at least take the order and explain that it will be cooked starting at opening time. Ten minutes cost you a customer, was...
