What a lovely, friendly and relaxed café! There are also not many places locally that offer gluten free food for Coeliacs, but A Date with Thyme does! The new manager even recently changed their sausages in order to be able to offer them to gluten free customers! They are happy to work with you to see if they can adapt items on the menu to make them gluten free. Air fryers are used with individual silicone baskets, instead of deep fat fryers so cross contamination is minimised. I usually react quickly but I have been absolutely fine eating here. It is encouraging that the new manager used to work at Côte, who are accredited by Coeliac UK! She seem to be really open, keen to make your experience a brilliant one and values feedback. There is a really wide variety of delicious and interesting drinks, and whilst the quantity of gluten free cake options is limited to the usual chocolate brownie - it is a very nice chocolate brownie! This is definitely a safe establishment for those who need...
Read moreMe and my mum don’t know the area too well, so when I’ve gone past in the car I’ve always been wanting to try this place as from the outside it looks lovely. We wanted somewhere cosy and warm. Which this was far from it, very basic and cold and no character. Maybe it’s just me because I’m from the new forest and we have cosy little cafes. We didn’t order food, which I feel bad for, we just left as didn’t even have menus on table not even for drinks! It just seems very basic. I have yet to find a good cafe around here where I can take family who come to visit. I’m sure the food is lovely going by the reviews but I personal want somewhere where I can relax. I didn’t have my 3 children in tow with me so may have felt differently if I had them with me. Don’t want to be disrespectful and I don’t normal leave reviews but I feel this place good be a right little gem if it was more appealing inside. Especially for the elderly too. Feel like they need...
Read moreHad a wonderful light lunch here to break a long drive (there is a reasonably-priced public car park around the corner). The staff were friendly and chatty and food was delicious, they put a lot of care into everything they did and created a lovely atmosphere. I had hash browns with mushrooms and my daughter had French toast - it was her first one and they cooked it perfectly (I had to try it, of course!). There are a couple of fun shops nearby if you want a walk before getting back on with your journey. I don't regularly drive through this part of the country, but when I next do, I will be diverting to break my journey...
