We were so pleased that we chose this excellent village pub for our Sunday lunch. Not long taken over by a young couple, the Pig & Whistle is doing really good things. It's a traditional pub, owned by Robinsons Brewery, serving really tasty home cooked food and serving well-kept real ales. On a Sunday they offer an excellent "Sunday Sharer": - The ultimate Sunday sharer. Yorkshire puddings filled with bacon topped cheese sauce and beer onion gravy to dunk your sirloin steak, meat of the day, Cumberland sausage pig in blanket wheel, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and parmesan topped roasties and veggies in. This is nicely presented in a roasting tray. It was all excellent and the sirloin was served beautifully pink. All very tasty and a generous portion. The service was excellent. It's a shame we don't live closer. Good luck with pub, guys and thank you for a great Sunday lunch. (Also posted to my food blog on Instagram @AbbeyKing16)

I called on New Year's day on the off chance they had space for two people and the person who answered was brilliant and managed to fit us in. From the moment we opened the menu, we knew we had made the right choice. It was almost like it was written specifically for our taste! When it arrived it not only looked and smelled amazing but delivered in taste as well! All the staff we interacted with were brilliant and had more than enough time for a chat and to answer any questions we had. The landlord Dean even gave us a tour of the beer garden and the whole backstory of why they took on the pub as a family. I won't go into details as I don't want to ruin the story, you will have to go yourself and find out! Thank you for a great experience 👍

Visited today, probably will come again next time. Food was a bit pricey but hey its probably just me not being used to the price nowadays in 2022. However the food was decent, and the service overall was great. And I'd like to give praise especially to one of the waiter/bartender. I was given the bill and one of the food item was displayed more expensive than what I remembered from the food menu. I pointed it out to him and asked for the price I remembered, he agreed to charge me the price I remembered and said if I remembered it wrong he would pay the extra money that I didn't pay. In the end I was right, but I really appreciate his attitude in this situation 👍👍

HORRIBLE FOOD!!

I was out today for lunch with my wife and child, and our experience was nothing short of terrible. We started with a pint of Moretti in the back garden, which had a pleasant ambiance, but things went downhill from there. The food menu was limited to roast dinners and Yorkie wraps, with options for beef and chicken. We ordered one of each with beef, along with a cheeseburger for my son. As a big beef lover, I was looking forward to a good meal. Unfortunately, from the very first bite, it was clear that the meat was of the cheapest cut, incredibly chewy, and left a terrible aftertaste. It was the worst dining experience I've ever had. What started as a beautiful day turned into a nightmare, and I wasted £50 on this atrocity. I usually don't post negative reviews, but this experience was so bad that I felt compelled to warn others. I didn't complain at the restaurant because I don't like wasting food, so I tried to eat as much as I could and left...

Well, I've been coming here for absolutely years, and when we walked in there were only a few in and yet there was no ,good evening, nice night innit, or a on hols? And the girl or manageress, whoever was chatting away to the locals at the corner of the bar,. Eventually she came and served us without any small talk or smiles. I ordered a arling which was topped up with Fletcher from underneath the bar. My wife said the it tasted on but I could see it was flat as a farther. I asked for a different glass to live nit up a bit. The manager was sending behind her and didn't ask any questions. If I had been the manager I would have offered the customer something different. Nice enough to pub but only personality. We were staying g in barns Gareth, 1 minute away. Went one afternoon to try again . Never went back after that. We would have eaten there every day if more welcoming and betterlager. Sorry but do not like, easing...
