PizzaExpress — Restaurant in England

Can’t even begin to explain how peeved off I left this restaurant tonight! Booked in for my partner for Father’s Day as a treat off our kids as it’s his favourite restaurant, but this particular pizza express is absolutely shocking! The starters were all fine, can’t really go wrong with doh balls, the drinking glasses we were given were all filthy, ordered the childrens starters and meals but wasn’t sure on what my partner wanted as he was on the loo so she said she would come back to finish the order, in which time, the kids starts arrived and we hadn’t even finished ordering, so they had had their starters and mains before our main arrived, the childrens pizzas had hardly any cheese on them just loads of tomato sauce, and my partners pizza was absolutely appalling, we literally never complain but the experience was that bad! The staff just didn’t care at all, when we told the girl serving us about my partners pizza, she just said ‘oh sorry’ and walked off with the pizza, came back once speaking to somebody to offer to put it back in but it was wayyy past saving, soggy and raw. Once passing on the complaint at the end of the meal, the lady just walked off, 5 minutes later another lady comes to the table who’s customer service was also shocking. Yes, they took my partners raw pizza off the bill, but so they should as he didn’t eat it! So tonight we went out for a meal for Father’s Day for the ‘father’ to leave without having had a meal. Oh, and they also had no penne. Never thought I would have to complain at pizza express, obviously just picked the wrong restaurant as others we have been too have...

We had such a brilliant experience at Pizza Express in Poynton! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ben, the manager, who couldn’t have been more helpful and informative. He even took the time to talk us through my son’s allergies, showed us the allergy matrix, and made detailed notes on our order so we felt totally reassured. That level of care makes all the difference.

The food was spot on - the classic American pizza was deliciously nostalgic, while the Romana American Hot gave that perfect fiery kick. The tuna salad was fresh and satisfying, and of course, we couldn’t resist the famous dough balls (pillowy little bites of heaven!).

Our son loved the 3 course kids menu, which is fantastic value, a proper treat without breaking the bank. And with the amazing deals available on the Pizza Express app, it all felt like great value for money.

Absolutely miserable experience. Food is ridiculously overpriced for the quality/taste. We ordered a garlic bread, clearly indicating it was to share yet the server didn’t mention it was smaller than the size of your hand for £7! The chicken parmigiana was, I’m fairly convinced, turkey not chicken. It was slimy, rubbery and did not taste like chicken. It was either turkey or I’m going to have a very poor time tonight. My mum’s dish arrived boiling hot at the edges but stone cold in the middle, they had it remade and it came out just as cold in the middle. Not sure what the ‘chef’ is doing, the pasta dishes are very clearly microwaved- is it so hard to use a thermometer to check it’s cooked to the right temperature? £40 for two dishes and a starter, £8 on drinks, just miserable.
