Been here a few times now. The outside of the cafe looks great and it is always busy so it’s enticing to go in. However each time I have left feeling a bit underwhelmed, mostly by the service. The coffee is decent but not outstanding. The cake selection is good but nothing particularly special. What is regrettable is the attitude of the staff and what I assume are the owners/managers. On one occasion we had to wait around while two members of staff finished their conversation before they served us at the hatch, not because they are serving other customers, their conversation seemed more important at the time. Another time we were sat outside with our dog in the summer. He was anxious at my wife had gone in to order, and was barking. As my wife was waiting the owner said “I wish someone would shut that dog up” only for my wife to hear. It just didn’t make us feel welcome there, and we regretted the money we spent there. It could be a really nice cafe, with decent food and coffee but it’s let down by the attitude of the staff I feel. It’s the whole package customer go for, not just the product, especially with inflation meaning people have less money to spend on discretionary spending. I think you can get a taste for this in some of the replies to other reviews. If they made a few improvements to their customer service approach I think they would do so much better- Remember guys the customer is always right in...
Read moreCan’t believe some of the poorer reviews on this lovely little place - apart from the fact that it’s friendly, lively, busy, serves wonderful coffee (Kickback?) made with care… and has a huge selection of cakes and pastries to try, they are also licensed, do lunches, have an outside eating area ( undercover I think) and, make lots of dogs incredibly welcome out in this area. I really think that before people make the effort of posting a review on the internet, they should take a couple of minutes or so to mention their little gripe with the staff who can then probably rectify any perceived oversight and make everybody’s day a lot better! A lot less bitter. If £3.80 seems a lot to you - go out, buy the freshly ground coffee, the range of milks, the chairs, the tables, the rent, the staff, the staff holidays, the electric, the VAT, the music license etc etc etc and we can all come round to yours and hog a chair for a while and see how much money it’s worth then! 😂 And have it there, ready and waiting, up to scratch, everyday…just in case we’re coming! Just remember, businesses are people too! BTW husband loved his small, black coffee, and I adore my latte - but, the cinnamon buns need to be banned …far...
Read moreBeen here a few times and have always loved it. However, yesterday I met a friend for lunch. I had a cheese and onion toastie which was fine. My friend had a baked potato with chicken tikka. It was stone cold. My friend had a word with the waitress who explained that this was correct!!! She asked if she could have it heated but was made to feel a little awkward. When the meal was returned, it was only just warm! She didn't want to make a fuss, but was extremely worried that she'd end up with food poisoning as surely chicken should be thoroughly reheated to a certain temperature? We left feeling very...
