A Cozy Haven in Newbury - The Plough on the Green
We had recently had the pleasure of visiting the Plough on the Green in Newbury, and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance of this pub is inviting, with a cozy and warm atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.
The staff at the Plough on the Green were exceptionally friendly and kind. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming attitude. They were eager to assist, providing recommendations from the menu and ensuring my visit was enjoyable.
The variety of beverages and food offered at the Plough on the Green was impressive. Their menu featured a range of options to suit different preferences, and the quality of the dishes was top-notch. I particularly enjoyed their traditional Sunday Roast, which was delicious and well-prepared.
The pub had a pleasant outdoor seating area, allowing patrons to enjoy the beautiful weather and lush greenery while sipping on their drinks. Inside, the decor was charming, reflecting the pub's cozy character.
In summary, the Plough on the Green is a must-visit if you're in Newbury. The friendly staff, inviting atmosphere, and tasty offerings make it a wonderful spot to unwind and enjoy good company. I look forward to returning and exploring more of what this charming pub...
Read moreWent to the POTG today with 17 family members for a Christmas get together, we had pre-ordered food and paid a deposit and yet still waited almost an hour for starters. The main courses then followed almost another hour later, the food was cold, the yorkshire puddings were a stodgy inedible mess and the veg was rock hard or soggy depending on what you had. No one got their meals at the same time which meant some people has finished when others had not even had their meals, then side orders appeared after we had finished. One of our party didn't even have any meat with her roast! Another hour later and dessert arrived, no better, cold custard, burnt cookies (which you could actually smell before they even arrived) one person was forgotten completely. An absolute waste of money as ended up cooking another roast when I got home. Service was terrible, they couldn't even get the bill right and queried the amount of our deposit and we then had to prove how much we had paid. I would absolutely not recommend this place and shall never return. There are far better places to...

Add to this that the locals, many of whom were openly vaping at the bar unchallenged, were turning the air blue with their language at their disbelief of missing out on a gammon joint within a meter or so of young children. You may say, well its a pub what do you expect? To which I would say, if you're going to be a boozer that's absolutely fine but if you are going to serve food and be open to families for Sunday lunch, at least get the fundamentals right by creating the right environment, delivering good food in good time. It's pretty easy...
