Chilis is the only genuine Indian restaurant in Newbury - the other Indian restaurants aren't actually run by Indians , they are either Nepalese or Bengali owned restaurants offering their twists on Indian dishes - this is not a negative however authentic Indian cooking is better from an authentic Indian owned resturant.
Having said that Chilis offers an above average indian food experience, the food is good and the selection is wide and varied. There is not a lot of room in the restaurant due to this a lot of food is ordered to take-away however if you go go their to eat then you have the benefit of good service, the staff are nice and polite...if your unsure of any dish they encourage you to ask, which is something often lacking in most Restaurants.

The menu only contains a few of the 'classics' you would expect so you may choose to pick something unusual - I am so glad I did. The chicken was lovely, with flavour all the way through and the lamb was so tender I didn't need a knife to cut it as it melted in the mouth. Flavour, heat and taste were absolutely fantastic, I only wish I lived close enough to make...
