my first time at the podium cafe, I will be visiting again though. Took me about an hour to get there (excluding the time i was lost trying to find the place), and journey is pretty annoying with a massive 50mph averaging section on M4 to Newbury. Really annoying when there was actually no traffic at all. When i got into Newbury it took me about 35 minutes to actually find the cafe (luckily a lady in the Audi garage told me how to get there so thanks to her), if you are going its a very sharp left before the sainsbury down Mill Lane and Bone lane, not very clearly signposted, its in tiny letters. Also the roads are narrower than I used to and theres lot of roundsabouts everywhere to make things even more annoying. If you do not actively look for the sharp left you will probably miss it. right when i got there, there was a massive queue already for drinks and food. the food looked pricey. I had a salmon bagel and chai latte with Oat milk alternative, it was helpful there was a milk alternative. the chai latte drink was good, the staff were decent enough but I felt they were stressed (not their fault) as there was a large queue. I will be trying some of the cakes and deserts next time to dunk into my tea. inside its actually not that easy to see the cars inside as it is tight for space. they'd probably been better off having less cars inside and letting customers have more space. Right outside now! Lots of sports cars came and there was lots of friendly banter. Lots of car enthusiasts. If you want to see Porsche, Lambos and Ferraris then yes 100% this is one of the places to go to and the owners all of all makes of cars (audis/modified Volvo ''the beast'') are happy to engage and tell you lot of interesting information and stories, at the moment i can not rank the food and drink higher than 3 until i have tried more of it next time. Atmosphere was good so that ranks higher from the get go. I was told the place is usually even busier than when i saw it, which would be a bit crazy as the inside cafe seemed to struggle with what was not a huge turnout on the day. so like i said if you want to see some proper sports cars owned by the customers than yes this probably is a good location to come to if your into car spotting and all that! Went there again, some VERY NICE CARS around like the Audi and...
ย ย ย Read moreI visited a few weeks ago to check the place out and had a lovely coffee and croissant whilst taking in the beauty of some of the machines they had on display in the cafรฉ!
I visited again this past weekend for a pre-arranged viewing/test drive of a Porsche they had in stock. I was dealing primarily with Tracey who is absolutely lovely and all-round it was a great experience (despite being pipped to the post by another buyer later in the day). grrr.
From a car sales perspective these guys are doing everything right, car was spotless (having been fully detailed by Podium detailing), Tracey answered all my technical questions about the car and they have pre-planned routes for test drive that you can choose from (varying from 35-60 minutes) with a great mixtures of road types that really allow you to experience the car in all scenarios (which you rarely get when test driving a car at most places). Mel accompanied me on the test drive and really allowed me to get used to the car, experience it for all it is and we had a a great conversation throughout the 40 minute test drive.
I was lucky enough to be introduced to John (the owner) who I had a great conversation with and who took me on a full tour of the premises and there's definitely some exciting stuff in the pipeline (as well as some even more incredible machinery not on show in the cafe).
Thanks so much to Tracey, Mel, John and the rest of the team. Should another car come into stock that fits the criteria I would have no hesitation dealing (and hopefully purchasing) with Podium Place. In the meantime I'll definitely be back for...
ย ย ย Read morejust wanted to let you know about the poor quality of service that led to a disappointing visit to the cafe this afternoon.
After seeing a recent video about Podium Place and the cafe on a popular YouTube channel about your cafe experience, myself and my wife drove over an hour to visit today .
After a briefly looking at the display or prestige supercars, we ordered a couple of drinks and pastries....we were given an order number and we took out seats...
The cafe was not overly busy, but after 15mins we had not received our drinks etc...a staff member did try and have a look at our table number in a vain attempt to see why we were still waiting...after a while longer I went back the counter and said we were still waiting. The member of staff waived our order ticket and said it has been missed....a number of other customers who had come in after us were still served before us. After a further 5 minutes , our pastries were bought to our table and just put down without a word from the staff member....still no drinks... Then only after a further 10 mins out drinks were brought over, no apologies for the delay or any explanation..... The drinks themselves were a luke warm Latte and hot chocolate...
The staff seemed very interested in the service they were giving, more interested chatting to themselves and other "younger" customers..
Sadly this left us sadly dissatisfied, from what we were expecting to be a premium cafe...
