I was amazed the first time I walked in, from the outside it looks a fairly dull run down corporation park cafe (and also the inside as well), but I looked up at the bipolar menu board which on one side was the egg/chips standard fare but the other was authentic working class Korean food! I had a bibimbap and the chef came served it to me and mashed the egg and chilli in at my table, my wife had kimchi fried rice!!!
I got talking to them and they have tried a few ventures around Southend but it has not worked out for them (they make excellent sushi as well). I am not sure why as there are plenty of foodies in Southend but maybe the Korean trends didn't quite make it here from London. When I talk to friends about them, they didn't know they exist so I think their marketing may be letting them down as there is no doubt that can cook the real thing at a decent price. Hunt them down if your catering a party or just want a bibimbap for a fiver. I buy kimchi from them as they will stick some in a takeway container for you, great with BBQ.
Oh yea the kids can try the BBQ skewers (or just burgers...as Hemingway said 'youth is wasted...

Went in at about 12:20pm and it was very slow service which wouldn't be acceptable in London - it took about 25mins but at least it was fresh. I decided on the Korean offerings although everyone ahead of me was ordering traditional English grub and as I didn't see any Korean presence I expected to have been told I couldn't have the Spicy Squid. Said dish arrived about 20mins later and I took it out to eat - it was delicious and I ate every last drop. I only read the second review after having had my lunch; I asked if the dish was served with kimchi and the woman who was serving coldly said it didn't and as the only thing with kimchi on the menu was with fried rice I didn't have any KIMCHI. Next time I will have some!
I like the way there are signs everywhere telling you stuff like it's against health & safety regulations to serve tap water ;) and the signs don't stop in the kitchen either! I suspect the food was cooked by a Korean Chef and it's a pity I didn't see him/her because I would have congratulated him...

We asked if they were open they said yes . We asked for some hot chocolate and if they could possibly supply us with two chairs ...we were told that they could not let us use two chairs as they had just put them all away..but we could sit at the picnic tables which are situated on the muddy grass, as I use a walker I needed to stay on the paving .....to which I replied not to bother with the hot chocolate and that I may not return there if that is their attitude. There was lots of people still walking in the park...I know that the cafe is a franchise but surely the opening and closing times should be for the use of the people of the town visiting the park....this is not the first time that we have been refused by the cafe for our custom when the park is still open to the...
