First impressions was extremely noisy with live music . Could not hear a word he was singing as everyone had to talk over the music . Could not hear what my wife even said to Me sitting next to me .I ordered mousaka as my family live in Athens and are Greek in my opinion it should be called lasagne as could only taste the thick cheese that was on the top didn’t eat it all as no taste of spices at all and no béchamel sauce just smothered in a tomato sauce really poor . My wife ordered ottoman chicken it was more like a soggy chicken casserole. We were both really disappointed and won’t be returning. The lady did ask what we thought of the food and had to say it was poor . Never mind thought we’d try the place . They did comp the mousaka. In reply to the response from Prowse restaurant below I would like to set my review straight from the start of us making a booking about 2 weeks ago . I was telephoned by the restaurant the day before to ask what time we had booked for as the lady called Kerry who took our booking failed to log the time in the reservation book , during this call they could of informed us that live music would be being played and we could of decided not to go there but there was no mention of this . Anyway we duly arrived on time a very polite young lady showed us to a table and my wife asked if it could been cleaned and she apologised this must of beenforgotten. She duly did this then took our order soon after another polite lady who said she was the wife of the boss came and Sat at our table as the first person had taken our order incorrectly as it was her first day . About 10 minutes later another waitress came over with 2 pasta main meals which obviously were not ours and she took them back to the kitchen and re appeared and took them to the waiting customers.you say in my review you have cctv of me sending back a clean plate you know full well that was not the case and I Wellcome you with my full permission to photo shoot your cctv and put a photo of the said clean plate on here for all to see as I know you can’t .secondly where in my review have I said the food was awful. What I did say your take on mousaka was nothing like a mousaka and should be renamed lasagne . I think the lady who came over to ask how everything was even asked me to go into your kitchen and speak with your Greek chef who said he is not Greek but Turkish Cypriot. I told him I am half Greek and that his take on mousaka was nothing like an authentic mousaka. The same lady asked if I wanted her to comp the meal and on 3 occasions I said absolutely not and was very happy to pay in full but she insisted. I’m still very happy to pay for it you have my number just call me and I’ll settle it up with you . I’ve already said in my review we won’t be returning to your restaurant as there are many restaurants in and around Southend to choose from . Two of your staff asked for our comments re the food and said Thankyou for my comments as you are still learning and it would help the restaurant . if you don’t want customers to comment whether good / bad or indifferent I suggest you remove the facility for reviews . I fully agree my wife did take what was left of her meal and is going to add a chicken tonight sauce to it to give it some flavour . I look forward to the photo of an empty plate in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Prowse restaurant , and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The ambiance immediately sets the tone with its warm, inviting atmosphere and thoughtfully curated decor. It’s the kind of place where you feel relaxed yet excited about what’s to come.
The service was impeccable. Our servers, Will, Leah and Cat especially were attentive without being overbearing, offering thoughtful recommendations and taking the time to explain the menu’s more unique items. It’s clear all the staff are highly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food they’re serving.
As for the food—wow. Each dish was beautifully plated and packed with flavour. We had the lamb shank and sea bass fillet, which were a perfect balance of textures and tastes.
What stood out the most was the attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience. From the ingredients, which were fresh and clearly high-quality, to the expertly made cocktails, everything was designed to enhance the meal. It’s rare to find a place where the food, service, and ambiance align so seamlessly.
If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an extraordinary meal, I cannot recommend Prowse restaurant enough. It’s a true gem, and I can’t...
Read moreA disaster from start to finish. Firstly we ordered our drink, only to be told their delivery hadn’t arrived, so limited our choice to a soft drink rather than a zero alcohol beer, as driving. Secondly we gave our food orders, only for the waitress to come back and say that they couldn’t offer two of our choices due to burgers and buns were not available. Thirdly after giving our new food choices, when our food arrived at our table nearly an hour after placing our orders, it arrived in stages and incomplete, when we questioned why we were missing items, the waitresses response was that the menu was printed incorrectly, but would ask chef to prepare the missing items anyway. These arrived as we were finishing our meals. Finally, the waitress knocked over my drink all over the table, which she cleared up, but did not offer to replace it, but instead offered a hug to make things right, which was declined. When we arrived at 5pm we were a group of four with only two other people in the restaurant, so they weren’t rushed off their feet. The owner then arrived telling us she had years of experience in hospitality in Turkey, unfortunately this was not evidenced on our visit. Needless to say, we will not...
