ROOST Coffee & Roastery — Restaurant in England

Contrary to another poster on here, I find David and Ruth (both fine coffee connoisseurs) to be as friendly as you are. Minstrels, they are not. Friendly, chatty but respectful would be closer to the mark. Their primary business is roasting and supplying industry, so having a shop where you can pop in to drink or buy at retail provides great insight into this world.

But the coffee! I've spent several years working in fine dining in London and I can tell you that their Kenyan Single Estate is as delicious as any I've had in the land - maybe more so. It's outrageously good, like most of their coffees, and they know it. David is very attentive, and keen to match your taste to their varying offerings. He'll also offer advice about how to get the best brew with whatever equipment you have at hone, no matter how modest.

Dog friendly coffee stop in the food court. Has outdoor seating too and does take away or sit in. Wasn't very friendly, welcoming service, but think the young lad was maybe just shy, is why he didn't smile. But hey, the coffee was brilliant! Really yum tasty. I also tried the almond cake with chocolate and hazelnut and it was really good. There's a monstahhh coffee roaster machine presiding in one room, looks very Heath Robinson! They also sell the coffee sacks here, £3 each. One of the best coffees I've had in a while and reasonably priced too. On my radar now, you need to put this place on your list too, very, very good coffee and cake. Recommended. We discovered Roost Coffee several years ago and have been delighted with the quality, flavour and consistency ever since. We always visit when in Malton and the taste of their freshly prepared coffee never disappoints. Since then we’ve regularly purchased their freshly roasted coffee beans on line via their web site so we can enjoy Roost coffee all year round. The overall service via the on line ordering system along with the quality and freshness of the beans is first class.
