Me and my partner decided to have a last minute weekend away a few weeks ago and found this hotel online. We were drawn to Malton because of the food market that was taking place that weekend and luckily this hotel is right in the centre of town. We arrived on the Friday evening and was greeted by the lovely staff in the busy bar, they took us to our room and showed us where everything was - other staff were friendly as we passed too. ||||The room was nice, it did have a few minor scuffs and marks here and there but as its not pretending to try and be an 5 star hotel that wasn't a problem. There was a lovely selection of tea and coffee and also bottled water which was a nice touch - there was also more tea and coffee in the corridor if we needed more. ||||Our room was near the smoking shelter at the back of the pub - it was loud when there was a group of people sat around it but as the bar closed at 11pm it wasn't really a problem as it wasn't late. ||||On our second night we decided to go in for a nightcap and managed to meet Rory, the lovely owner who took the time to make us welcome. All the staff were lovely and the locals who sat near us were also very friendly and made us feel welcome. ||||There was no parking on site but there is ample parking at the cattle market near by, there is also no breakfast option at the hotel but again you're located in the centre of town so there would be other options for...

Read moreArrived late evening and checked in at the bar. Was shown to our room by a polite and helpful member of the barstaff. Taken through an outside courtyard area to the accommodation front door which we had a key for as well as well as one for our twin room. Accommodation seemingly had its own private lounge but this was not mentioned when taken to our room. There was a large unopened boxed ice machine plonked in the middle of the seating area. Again not mentioned. Was led up a narrow flight of stairs to our room. |Very compact twin room, enough for twin single beds with a bedside cabinet separating them. Bottom drawer missing a handle 2 complimentary bottles of still water with glasses and a box of tissues on top. Enough room for one person at a time to walk at the bottom of the beds. Very small TV showing freeview channels on the wall. Underneath a wooden corner unit with a kettle, cups and saucers, plenty of tea, coffee milk and biscuits. Storage space was limited to coat hangers on a rail at the bottom of the bed. |Bathroom small but adequate. Toilet ballcock was dismantled when arrived but soon fixed that so no issue. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Hot water was excellent. Radiators made sure the room was warm. Generally the stay was good even though was only there for...
