Malton markets are a bit 'hit and miss'. It really depends on which week you arrive what you'll get.

Most weeks there are 4 regular traders: A fruit & veg stall, a large 'one-size-fits-all' style clothing tent, a guy selling prints and pictures, and a plant stall. Occasionally there is a charity table-top stall for the local dog rescue.

Every month there is a Malton Monthly Food Market - generally with local produce and artisan makers taking part. On several weeks through the year there are Food Festivals and other events.

These are all run by Visit Malton (a Community Interest Company) to attract people to the area, increase revenue for local traders and re-invigorate the...

I didn't go to the market (I went on a Tuesday) there is plenty of parking, free for 2 hours, which gives ample time to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the lovely greengrocer (Paley's), fantastic bread and cakes from Lutt and Turner, have a bit of lunch at one of the fab cafés, pop to the pet shop and the butchers and go home. Alternatively, pay for parking at Wentworth Street and make a day of it, you could spend hours in Ralph Yates and find stuff that you didn't know that you needed, buy some beautiful plastic free handmade soaps from the Cosy Cottage, pop into the Rusty Fox and browse for ladies clothes. Very difficult getting a parking space. No free samples of anything in the market-no tastings!! Very bad marketing!! Reps.of Police Commissioner present taking flak from me regarding his moronic comments on Radio York regarding women causing their problems-very male chauvinistic!! So not impressed with Farmer's market and Yorkshire's Capital of Food. Can do a whole lot better with my Marketing...

It was fantastic lots to do and see delicious food stalls to try and a fabulous malton silver band to relax us what a wonderful day. Special thanks to the people at the Talbot Hotel who were extremely polite and helpful. Great day out will be back.

Excellent two or three hours with family last Sunday, wandering around Malton Food Fayre, followed by Champagne and Oysters, (or in my case Black Sheep and a bag of Pork Scratchings), sat outside in the sunshine at the Talbot Hotel.
