To start I had lot of expectations after having heard good things about this place. Unfortunately for me, I think went the wrong day then. It was for my birthday, my wife invited me at Rossini. To make it short: from the wine list both wines i wanted where not available i chose then a wine from 2011, and the server brought me a 2015 bottle. Not the same at all right? Especially from that region where 2011 is a good milesim. Still same price of course. I ended up drinking basic Cianti 2014. It was okay though but not a wine for special occasion. wine glass broken male hair in my wife starter I ordered a rib eye with gorgonzola sauce, medium rare, it arrived well cooked. After all the experience I did not want to spoil our evening complaining
So experience was not quite what we expected.
Food wise: I enjoyed very much my starter, marinated fish. Except that dish the rest was good but nothing special i am afraid.
They had a big party the day before so i think we were unlucky and will have to give it another try.
From this experience I cannot recommend that place. I would like to rate it 2.5 but Google does not allow 0.5 stars. So I rate it 3 stars as it does deserve more...
Read moreRossini's feels straight out of 1975, from the dressy food presentation to the stacked dessert trolley. Any imperfections in the cooking - bits of charring, usually - only make it more lovable.
Two amuse bouches, a dough ball and a well-toasted bruschetta slice, were delicious and over-salty. Our shared starter was chicken liver pâté, a generous portion, just coarse enough. The Melba toast was (oddly) toasted only on one side and (wonderfully) served with the removed crusts beside it. See? Lovable imperfections.
For the main course, our cannelloni was simple, good and slightly charred. But the star was a special, pasta with al dente broccoli and garlicky sausage. With a glass of house red, it was a large plate of heaven.
The dessert trolley brought by-the-book profiteroles and a generous slice of amaretto cake. Both had a hefty kick of booze.
In a town full of Italian restaurants, Rossini's offers charm, good food and a sense of eating in a time warp....
Read moreSo ,after reading up on the restaurant and the taxi driver to the place also affirming what a good choice we made ..sadly it was all downhill from there last night .We arrived 10 minutes early which seemed to be a massive problem to them for some reason ..bearing in mind there was only another 2 tables eating .we took our table and ordered some drinks..my bottle of morretti was pretty warm but no problem. The food ..my partner ordered the mussels..when they came we were immediately transported back to the 70s ..bland is an understatement..some badly defrosted prawns sat on some buttery garlic sauce and a comical garnish .Next up was veal ordered by my partner..again no taste at all in a cream sauce with some boiled out veg ..I had a pasta dish that was bland ..even after I'd heavily salted it .really felt like an Italian restaurant that had rested on its old laurels...safe to say we wouldn't recommend but it was packed out when we left so...
