Rowell Charter Inn, Rothwell: No Lattes, No Fuss, Just a Proper Pub đ»đ·đ
If youâre after a quinoa salad and an oat milk cortado, keep walking. But if what you really want is a good pint, a friendly chat, and a seat that feels like itâs got your name on it, then the Rowell Charter Inn in Rothwell is calling your name in a well-worn Northamptonshire accent.
The Vibe: Old-School and Proud of It
This is a proper pubâthe kind where the bar staff remember your order, the locals know your dogâs name, and thereâs no need for apps, QR codes or foam art. Youâll find a dartboard, a jukebox, and the comforting scent of well-aged wood and freshly pulled ale.
Itâs unfussy, itâs friendly, and itâs a sanctuary for anyone tired of âgastropub nonsenseâ and neon cocktails served in watering cans.
The Drinks: Beer, Wine, and None of Your Fancy Business
No skinny soya lattes or beetroot matcha hereâjust well-kept real ales, cold lagers, and wine that comes in proper glasses and doesnât cost half your weekly shop. Whether youâre a pint-of-best kind of person or just after a cheeky glass of red, youâll find your match without needing to study a drinks menu the size of War and Peace.
The Crowd: Everyoneâs Welcome
Thereâs no velvet rope or âbook your barstoolâ here. Itâs walk in, sit down, enjoy yourself. Locals, regulars, newbies, and pub quiz warriorsâall are welcome. Just donât ask for a frappe and youâll be fine.
The Verdict: Five Stars for Staying True to Itself âââââ
In a world of over-complicated pubs trying to be everything to everyone, the Rowell Charter Inn proudly remains what a pub is supposed to be: a place to unwind, enjoy a drink, and catch up with real people.
Five starsâplus a silent toast to every pub that still knows how to pull a perfect pint without needing a barista qualification. Long live...

Staff was very friendly, and the real ale is top-notch, a lovely tasting cold pint. The glasses were like new clearly they know how to run a pub to the highest standard. I really would give this public house a ten out of ten. Staff have a smile. The toilets were clean and did not have an unpleasant smell, unlike most public houses about in the gentleman's toilet facilities. Prices are reasonable, and they accept cash or card at the bar. I have a very high sensitive reaction to perfumes and found this to be a safe zone for me. Clearly they take cleaning very...

They have a decent sized beer garden which I'm never out of in the summer months. They have a fantastic selection of ales, larger and wine. Not your usual mainstream brands so it's nice to to try something new or just different to what other pubs have. However you do pay a little more but I think it's worth paying that extra for one of the best places in the area for a good old socialise. I almost forgot to mention that it's a very old...
