This place gets worse every time we go. This last time they ruined our Christmas dinner. Booked in advance. Ordered in advance and were told 3 times on 3 separate occasions they did not need side dishes in pre order. Had 2 allergy requirements, requested a vg main. After starters we received a plate of lukewarm sprouts, carrots and cabbage as a main dish. No flavour, no sauce and it was exactly the same as the side dish offered to whole table (1 plate between 12!). 1 rice between 2. No poppadums, no side dishes. That was all we got for a £30 "Christmas banquet".
They didn't provide even the same amount of food as a standard Tuesday evening and the quality was very low.
Read that this restaurant received "curry house of the year for the East Midlands region". We are baffled by that.
Service is verging on rude, with waiters barking at customers. High risk of not receiving as ordered, we had to ask for more rice to meet basic appetites and none of us is an over eater.
They are clearly just trying to make a huge mark up on everything without putting in any effort.
Thankfully Christmas is not all about the food but it was a big dampener on our day. We brought 12 people to eat here and were so embarrassed that we had recommended it because of their award. Others said their curries were over sweetened, or lacking in other ways.
We will never go here again and would recommend to avoid.
Really very disappointing. Don't waste your money.
The Raj is better in Kettering. Or Karmana in Northampton is amazing if you can travel a bit further.
We complained because it was so unfair that we had checked 3 times. We had printed our order for them 5 days before and spoken to someone in person who said they would handle everything and there were no problems with our order. If they needed information why didn't they ring us? We were given a bottle of prosecco and a lip service type of apology. Don't get caught out. You will leave feeling like you are there to line their pockets and...
Read moreI'm not sure how this restaurant won an award (Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2019) because from my view they do everything wrong. The only way I can see them winning an award is if the judges were drunk (there is a pub next door), friends of the owner, been paid-off or had lost there sense of taste.
The service was absolutely shocking. The staff (particularly the older gentleman who I presume is the owner) should be taken to a good restaurant to learn how to interact with customers. Even a cursory youtube search in 'hospitality skills' would help. Also you should not blame your customers because you forgot to ask them what sides they would like.
The food was awful, anyone who has been to a Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester or Leeds I'm sure would agree. I felt like I was eating an easter egg rather than a curry. Also for the record dying a Korma Red/Pink and announcing 'Chicken Tikka Masala' does not magically turn it into one (this was also one of the limited options on offer). I mean this is bread and butter for an Indian restaurant, you should at least be able to do this!
Vegan food is not simply frying vegetables tempura style. Seeing as the a large section of India nation is vegetarian I would have expected this to at least be passable, it was not.
If this restaurant had been located anywhere with remotely decent competition in the area it would be out of business, quite frankly this is not Indian food. And I would personally feel embarrassed to serve it considering the rich heritage of Indian cuisine.
Positive: The food was edible, and you will not die, but your love of curry and a piece of...
Read moreSo we were passing through and needed food, being someone who lives a good meal I asked around and looked online there was so much choice, we found taste of India and the reviews looked good, this doesn’t always mean it’s the best but decided to give it a go, the place is beautiful inside the plates were really cool it was super clean it just felt like a nice place, then the staff came over they were super friendly helped my fussy old man find a curry that was spicy but not too much heat one he never had before.
Naan breads were great especially the keema nan, the onion bhajis were not only amazing but huge 👌🏼
As always I went for a jalfrezi and we were not disappointed, I have had many curry’s this was phenomenal, all dishes were to a very good standard none were cold all were super tasty and really filling, we couldn’t eat it all, I highly recommend this place and I would easily say it was the best Indian I have had.
If you get a chance...
