Lovely daffodils on each table which looked good. Reasonable prices which is welcome. Very, very slow service. Staff pleasant but waited ages for a simple cheese sandwich and a soup. Only one other table also waiting. My husband has a bad back and became very uncomfortable having to sit for so long. He'd made a huge effort to walk there with his rollator so we were very disappointed. Cheese sandwich presented poorly. Cutting into four pieces would have helped. A little salad to dress it? No? Soup very nice. Windows were really filthy with cobwebs on the inside. You could hardly see through them. It made us concerned for behind the scenes cleanliness to be honest. They've obviously spent money on the new loos but made them multi purpose, so seats are left up and uninviting! As a female I don't want men walking round and I'm sure it's vice versa. Large disabled loo available. Overall not a wonderful experience unfortunately. As locals we hope these things can be rectified. Just a few tweeks would make this place very good.

On another day this could easily be a 4/5 star cafe. Sadly for us the service was terrible. We ordered lunch and we’re told it was a 30 minute wait. 50 minutes later our food arrived. The bread of my sandwich was dry indicating it was stale or had been left out. When asked if the food was ok I raised it with the waitress who said she’d speak to her boss and see what could be done. We waited 10 minutes, finished our drinks and no one came back to us. We left disappointed. We weren’t the only ones that day as we had a conversation with a couple on the table next to us who were also feeling let down by the service.

Cons: -hair in my quiche (I discreetly told the manager and he just shrugged his shoulders) -service took AGES and was generally poor (not enough cutlery, no check that we were happy, etc) -most of the menu unavailable, but nobody made us aware of this when giving the one menu to our group of 10 to share, which slowed us down further -over-priced Pros: -the setting is lovely with views of the cathedral -the food we did eventually get wasn’t too bad for what it was

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff and great coffee! Would recommend. With these unprecedented times it is challenging to offer a great service, but the staff did a fantastic job. A very busy and thriving cafe, reflected in how many people were there but we had no issues at all and were happy to wait, safe in the knowledge that they are doing all they can to provide a clean environment for all. Definitely worth a visit, thanks all for a lovely experience,...
