I'm really surprised at how good the reviews are for the food. I've been here quite a few times and the food has never been very good but I go back because it's good for cocktails and a nice atomosphere. The staff are really friendly and good at their jobs, and the cocktails are always very good, including the non alcoholic ones. But the food is a real let down every time. The nachos aren't salted and don't taste of anything. The guacamole is awful, we all said we couldn't taste salt, garlic or citrus (lemon or lime). It just tasted like smashed avocado, other than the hot one which just tastes like someone put tobasco sauce in with the avo. This time we went I had the ancho chicken burrito, as did one of my friends and we both said the chicken was unbelievably dry. There were some bits of chicken I had to pull out cos I couldn't even chew them. There wasn't really any flavour to it either and it could have done with some guacamole or sour cream in it because all the ingredients in it are dry. Another friend had the steak burrito and he said the steak was over cooked and chewy. My husband said the sweet potato bites and the chicken wings were very nice but his quesadillas tasted like they were nuked in the microwave and weren't very nice. I thought it was a shame there wasn't a choice of hazelnut sauce to go with the churros, but then one of my friends ordered them with the caramel sauce and couldn't eat them because they were so oily, like they hadn't been cooked enough. The waiter was really friendly but it felt like we were being upsold on everything we ordered. We asked for 2 lots of nachos with guacamole for us to nibble on while we waited for our food and he suggested we try all the nachos. Not knowing how many kinds there were we ended up with 4 plates of nachos with guacamole and nachos with a black bean sauce, so rather alot more than we originally asked for. My friend asked for a coca cola and he said, "a pint" and she said no just a small one, but he still bought a pint and she didn't even get close to half way through it. I would go back here again but only for drinks, as me and my husband have never had a good experience...

It was my first time visiting this place. All my friends recommended it. So I thought I'd give it a try. Once I walked in, the staff out of nowhere just stopped me and told me there were no tables available (Tables were empty) they weren't welcoming at all and said to come back at 9 pm. (It was 4 pm more or less) So I asked if I could sit at the bar and order some appetizers and drinks. Again, the staff was unaccommodating, and my friend practically had to beg just for us to get a small table at the Bar area to experience the place. So after they allowed us to go to the table we had to wait another 15 min with no staff coming to take our order. It wasn't until I called one of them and asked if I could order some entrees and drinks. So I did order. finally. I ordered Guacamole Serrano, frijoles con chorizo, Queso and some empanadas. The drink & the guacamole arrived after 10 min.(Not too bad) And after 30 min. (Approx.) The staff approached to the table and told me. I have good news and bad news. The Bad news was that they lost my order ticket in the kitchen so no more food was coming & good news was that I could order main dishes while we were in the bar (which they don't allow that) so at that point I thank the staff & decided to pay my bill and just walk away. Being a Mexican restaurant and me being Mexican would have thought that the staff would be trained to be polite and welcoming......Our culture is always welcoming no matter what part of the world we are in. Very sad and bad experience with the service and what's worse I didn't even get to...

After genuinely looking forward to eating at Tingas since relocating, we unfortunately left feeling disappointed with the service. Once we were seated, our server seemed almost offended that we chose to stick with water for the table. When we placed our order (two small plates and a side), we were met with the comment, “That’s not a lot of food.” She then went on to explain that each plate only comes with three small tacos, even after we mentioned that we’ve visited Tingas before. This came across as quite patronising.

Realistically, if we had ordered more, it wouldn’t have even fit on the small wobbly table that we were given. From that point onwards, the responses we received were a series of blunt “yeahs” – which felt like poor customer service, especially from someone who appeared to be a team leader.

Not to mention, when we requested our bill, the lady was already standing beside us with the card machine in hand, giving us no opportunity to even glance at the receipt—let alone remove the service charge, which we felt was undeserved on this occasion.

Despite reaching out to them directly to share my experience before leaving a review, I have yet to receive any response, even after 7 days.

On the positive side, the food was excellent and couldn’t be faulted. It’s just a real shame that the service left such a sour impression, making us question whether we’d return despite how much we enjoyed the...

A True Salisbury Gem! Tinga is an absolute feast for the senses — from the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sweeps you away with its vibrant, beautifully curated décor. It’s like stepping into an upscale Mexican hideaway, with warm lighting, stunning details, and a welcoming vibe that sets the tone for a great night out. But the real star? The food. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavour — fresh, colourful, and clearly made with care. The tacos were perfectly balanced, the mains packed a punch, and the dessert… don’t even get me started on the churros — absolutely divine! You can tell the kitchen puts real thought into delivering both authenticity and flair. Service was flawless — friendly, professional, and genuinely enthusiastic. The staff knew the menu well and made excellent suggestions without being pushy. It's the kind of place where you feel looked after without it feeling overdone. Tinga isn’t just a meal — it’s a whole experience. Perfect for catching up with friends, celebrating something special, or just enjoying a fantastic night of food in a stunning setting. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Salisbury is lucky to have this one-of-a-kind spot!

We (3 of us) arrived here without a booking on a Saturday early lunchtime. They were fully booked but managed to squeeze us in and told us they'd need the table back in an hour. Not too long after we were seated, they told us they'd managed to move a few tables around and didn't need our table back in a hurry afterall. They were super friendly throughout and couldn't do enough for us. The cocktails looked great and were served in fun receptacles, but unfortunately didn't taste the best (a bit too wishy washy for my liking). We opted for the tapas which was presented very nicely and was enjoyable, but I will say that it all tasted like it was lacking something in flavour. For a Mexican, I was expecting more spice perhaps. You can spice your food up with their tasty salsas and extra chillis which is what we did. The churros were absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very well decorated and it was lovely to learn about the owner's story and how Tinga was born. All in all, we had a lovely lunch experience and I will be going again (I'm planning on taking my husband for his birthday, and we're going to try the burritos).
