I had an awful service experience at this place- just wanted to enjoy brunch with family as passing through this town on the way home. I never received my food - asked very specifically for example for avocado without chilli, sunny fried egg- the waitress confirmed I can have it- but it never arrived, my husband and daughter had their food mine for some reason was not registered. On top of that i then discovered that they charge different fee for extras- toast for example was advertised as 1.5£ but they charge 3.5£ twice on the bill saying retrospectively it needs to be attached to a meal otherwise charged more- my husband has ordered a meal and we asked if myself and daughter can combine things to create our own meal as there wasn’t suitable option otherwise- so on the top of not receiving my order I was asked to pay more retrospectively- never had this experience in any other restaurant so far and I don’t think it is legal. To make things worse their card machine didn’t seem to work properly- so there were four times I needed to attempt to pay- 3 times was advised that it didn’t go through- forth time the waitress changed the card machine and finally it worked- but to make things worse a day later I discovered I was charged three times !!!now needing to follow this up with credit company. A place to avoid- had to speak several times with the manager not to have to overpay ( still charged a bit more that should have) . Customer services really awful. I hope this was not intentional to punish me as a customer for refusing to pay different charge than shown on menu. A place to avoid and staff including manager on 19/8/23 noon time to go to customer...
Read moreFirst time eating at The Salisbury Orangery. Unfortunately, the cons outweighed the pros.
Pros: the deluxe hot chocolate came out promptly and was a good quality.
Cons: on both my breakfast and my wife's breakfast, the poached eggs came out hard boiled. I crunched down on large piece of egg shell. Unfortunately the tomatoes were also stone cold, which is pretty poor. I showed the waitress that there was eggshell in my food. She seemed pretty disinterested and failed to apologise, no redress was offered, and I had to prompt her to feed this back to the kitchen.
Unfortunately, this attitude formed the primary motivation for this review.
For almost £14 - £15 per breakfast, it's not unreasonable to expect a high standard and to deliver on quality. Everyone makes mistakes, however the lack of ownership leads to frustration on the part of your customers' other reviews, which bear this out.
This place has the potential to be truly special. However, a shift in attitude needs to take place first. Until that time, there are plenty of other great breakfast options in Salisbury that are well priced and offer great service at present. The Salisbury Orangery is not...
Read moreThe Orangery is a really beautiful cafe on the river. The old building has been restored to a really high standard and the decor is lovely. However, I do feel like the price is based purely on the setting of the restaurant, as the food was really bog standard. I ordered a chorizo and stilton sourdough toastie, but the chorizo was just the sliced kind that was orange in colour rather than a nice red, and looked like the cheap one you can pick up from Tesco. The bread for the toastie had barely seen any heat. The waitress didn't crack a smile the whole time we were there and seemed bothered by the fact she had to serve us. I went with 2 friends for lunch and asked my mum to meet us there for a tea after we had finished eating. My 2 friends had to go back to work and me and my mum were planning on staying for another drink but the waitress said I had to pay my share of the bill right away because my friends had. So we didn't bother to stay for another drink as I wasn't allowed to keep the bill open. I'm glad I've tried it, as I've been wanting to go since it opened, but I wouldn't go again unless the quality of the food improved as I don't think the price...
