Ordered for the first time from Sawai Thai last night and overall was very impressed with the quality, quantity and value of food on offer. We bought 2x Chicken jasmine rice dishes and a portion of chips to share. The order came to £25 including a can of coke and although £2.50 for a can is pretty steep the overall cost of everything I think is reasonable given location and quality.

We headed over to Pentire Headland a couple minutes up the road to catch a beautiful sunset and enjoy some lovely food.

The fried rice was beautiful and sticky but not stodgy. The chicken was fresh, moist, tasty and plentiful. There was a decent amount of veg and the meal felt healthier than most takeaway.

The Chips at £4.50 were okay. Presumably generic frozen chips. Portion size was fair for sharing with another dish. Weren't awful but probably wouldn't order again. Also no vinegar available. Also to note on the picture there is 1 very salty chip.. I put my own salt on this wasn't done by the cooks.

The main dishes however were so good yesterday I'm coming back later today to try some other dishes and hopefully catching another stunning sunset over Crantock/Fistral!

Also to note staff were nice and friendly.

Based on my first experience I'd rate it a solid 8.5/10. Will update this review after I've tried some more food tonight.

UPDATED REVIEW...

So I did return the day after as it was so good and this time I wanted to try some noodle dishes and also wanted to try some other meats.

I ordered Pork Pad Mee Korat which was a spicy rice noodle dish with pork and was absolutely delicious! It was fairly spicy with a decent kick but not overwhelming.

The missus ordered Chicken Pad Thai which again was rice noodles and chicken in a more mild sauce which was also fantastic.

I also wanted to try the beef so we ordered the same jasmine fried rice dish as the previous day but with beef instead of chicken. Again the rice dish was lovely just as I had already experienced and the beef was super moist and tasty. Having tried the chicken and beef I would suggest the chicken works better in that specific dish.

Another minor point as I had with the chips on the previous visit, the spring rolls were not the best. Like the chips they weren't terrible but not value for money. For £6 you get a portion of 4 spring rolls which in fairness taste nice enough but they're not the biggest and not particularly well filled. I'd say they were about 75% batter.

TO SUMMARISE

My overall experience from 2 back to back visits is some genuinely fantastic Thai cooking. Rice dishes and noodle dishes are equally brilliant and the beef, chicken and pork I've tried were all delicious and generously portioned. A couple of minor points for the chips and spring rolls which are not so great and also on the expensive side but the main dishes are piping hot, rammed with protein and absolutely full of fresh ingredients and flavour offering affordable quality takeout great value for money.

Overall I'd give this a 9 out of 10 based on 2 visits and I can see this becoming my regular food spot in Newquay. I'm excited to get creative and try more dishes I've never thought of ordering. Absolutely...

I don't understand the 5 star reviews here, maybe they were having a bad day when I ordered, but my food wasn't that great. They were really busy, it was a 45mins wait for food & I was ok with waiting but I did expect great Thai, instead I got Steamed Chicken Dumplings that were so hard they would have physically hurt someone if I threw them at a person! They were really awful. The Pad Thai was ok but the ingredients were quite dry & tough. The Pad See Ew was the same, good flavour in the noodles but the chicken was tough. They weren't on their A game. To Sawai Thai - Shame you guys spend all your time being upset at reviews that were mediocre instead of recognising the issues & doing better next time, that's all that's needed, not your childish tantrums. You clearly didn't notice that I gave you 3 stars, which means the food was ok but not great. I didn't give you 1 or 2 stars so when you're over your tantrum you can deal with how you skimmed past the good parts!! I wrote hundreds of reviews about Thai food whilst in Thailand actually, but I wrote them on another website that is well known for food reviews particularly. Most of the food in Thailand was awesome actually, maybe you need a trip back there to freshen your skills. I have written positive reviews relating to food & not just coffee but I guess when you're short-sighted you only see what suits you instead of the opportunities to improve. You should re-read my review, see that I had something positive to say about your noodles so it wasn't all negative, which is why it was rated 3 stars & not fewer. I mean wow, your...

First time ordering from here this evening and I just had to leave a review. I ordered 1 x Tempura Chicken 1 x Kao Kati (Coconut Rice) and 1 x Panang Chicken Curry. Value for money is exceptional. As the dishes were priced much cheaper than others, I expected slightly smaller portions. This was not the case at all! There was plenty and the same size portion you'd expect from any other takeaway. The tempura chicken was delicious. I could honestly eat it every day. The batter was light and crispy whilst the chicken was cooked perfectly inside. The coconut rice was also really good. Sticky and full of coconut flavour. I really enjoyed enjoyed panang curry. I like that you don't include peanuts in yours like some others do but it was a little sweeter than I'm used to. I will definitely be coming back for more especially at their prices. And the delivery guy has his little girl with him! Instantly made me think "family" about this business. Can't recommend them enough. Absolutely superb...

We found this delivery on Google Maps, read the reviews and decided to give it a try. It didn't cost us anything to go to the place to order. The preparation took about 15-20 minutes, which is quite fast, the employees are very friendly. Now it's time for the food, everything was very tasty, I ordered rice with duck and salad, I really liked it. My wife ordered soup and noodles, she was also delighted with the food. A place that can be safely recommended.
