Sawasdee Thai Restaurant, Torquay — Restaurant in England

Delicious food! Unfortunately the service was really surprisingly poor. First when the waitress was taking our order the owner approached and pinched the menu off my hands and said the price was wrong. That the drinks on the card which was showing at 3£ are now 4£ (beer, cider) He said its illegal for me to see the prices that he would have to sell it to me at the lower - shown in the menu price. I said I already ordered of that menu. When ordering the food the waiter wasn't able to tell us how would the food arrive or answer any questions about the food really. The food was delicious we were happy with our choices. Then i asked for the bill. The waiter approached me with amount to pay with her card machine with no bill. I payed, but asked for the bill and recipient. The restaurant charged 4 for beer and 5.50for cider. Which is a bit shady. I asked the ownen if he can explain he have me attitude and started shouting! He then proceeded to say Ok so you want 1.5£ back yeas ?? I said no all together is 5£ that you overcharged me. He took out a roll off bill notes from his pocket and thrown 5£ on the table. And said " is that enough "? I said yes thank you. Went to the waiter and gave her that 5£ note as a tip. As she was as confused and cringed as I was for her...

I have to be honest. The food was absolutely lovely however panang curry was slot weaker than I expect as I expected it hot however I believe they have catered for their clientele as not everyone can handle the heat of thai curries that's my only cirtesim. I will ask for it thsi hot next time however they were very friendly and a pleasure to order from. I will be ordering again in the future. Pad Thai was excellent and well executed. I hope the owner is proud to have such a beautiful restaurant serving good food. I thank u for the good food only next time I'll order it thai hot as my panang is done in Thailand. Thank you...

Absolutely amazing! Decided to try Nings as it's the closest Thai restaurant to my house and so glad we did. We ate in the restaurant which is clean and fresh. The menu has a great selection. The portions are very generous and all our food was delicious. We have tried many Thai restaurants in the bay and this is definitely at the top of our list. The tempura veg was so crispy and light, the curry and soup were fresh and tasty. The service was great, very attentive and friendly. Such a lovely family run restaurant. We will definitely be back.
