We are most probably the very few ones who didn’t like the Main beach. Below are the details

Day Visited: Monday Date: 27 June, 2022 Time: 1300 (1 PM) Weather: Partially Sunny but Chilly

Two hours Drive from Bath and 1.45 hours drive from Bristol You will be driving on the motorway which means your drive will be easy and pleasant. You will find a lot of service areas on your way (Just in case you feel a need to stop frequently)

  • There are lots of speed checking, Average speed checking and red light cameras when you are approx 9 miles away from entering Torquay till you reach the main beach. Use Waze to make your life easy and stay attentive* We didn’t like the main beach (in the center) very much. You can still enjoy the view Parking is available on main road and in separate parking spaces as well. We parked on main road and charges were £1.20 for 30 Minutes, £1.70 for an hour and £3.20 for 2 hours. Cards are not accepted so you must carry coins as paying over the phone is a long process. Toilets are available but you have to pay 30p per person to get in. Coins and cards are accepted. Yes you can’t pee for free ;) Plenty of food options (restaurants) available on main road and in markets if you walk. I will highly recommend to see restaurant’s review on google if you are visiting for the first time. Reviews can tell how good the restaurant is. We ate at Las Iguanas where average price for the main course is 13.95 and drinks (Mocktails) are starting from £4.95 for two (which is nothing different than any other Las Iguanas branches) We didn’t go to the Harbour as we went for beaches. Not sure about hotels and rooms as we drove back the same day

Tip:

*We went to Anstey’s Cove which is a lovely place. I’d recommend everyone to go there first and then you can go to rest of the nearby beaches if you have time. Anstey’s Cove is 2.5miles or hardly at 10 minutes drive from the center. Parking at Anstey’s Cove is £1.80 for one hour, £3.60 for two hours and £5.40 for three hours. You can also pay 60p per 20 minutes (which makes no sense) Paignton Beach is another good option where you can go if you really want to move somewhere else. Its a 10 minutes or approx 4 miles drive...

Torquay Beach, nestled along Victoria’s picturesque Great Ocean Road, is a true gem for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike. Renowned as the gateway to the Surf Coast, this beach offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and thrilling activities.

The beach itself boasts golden sands that stretch endlessly, bordered by rugged cliffs and rolling dunes. The waves here are iconic, making it a paradise for surfers of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner looking to catch your first wave, the surf schools and rental shops lining the shore make it easy to dive in. The gentle waves closer to the shore also make it family-friendly, with plenty of shallow spots for kids to splash around safely.

One of the highlights of Torquay Beach is its laid-back yet lively atmosphere. On any given day, you’ll find a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the sunshine, from sunbathers and swimmers to beach volleyball enthusiasts. The grassy esplanade behind the beach is perfect for a picnic or a leisurely stroll, with plenty of benches and BBQ facilities available.

If you’re a fan of coastal walks, the Surf Coast Walk offers stunning views and takes you past some of the area’s most breathtaking landscapes. It’s also worth exploring the nearby Torquay town, known for its surf shops, cafes, and the Australian National Surfing Museum, which gives a fascinating insight into the area’s deep connection with surfing.

For those looking to relax, there are quieter sections of the beach where you can unwind with a book, enjoy the sound of the waves, and watch the sunset over the horizon—a truly magical experience.

In summary, Torquay Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling through Victoria. Its beautiful setting, excellent surf, and welcoming vibe make it a perfect spot for a day out or a longer stay. Whether you're there to ride the waves, enjoy the scenery, or simply soak up the sun, Torquay Beach offers something...

This is called Torre Abbey Sands. It's my local beach and I love it. I've given it 4 stars due to people's disregard for the dog ban and the amount of litter I find myself collecting to avoid it washing out to sea. Please remove your rubbish. Aquatic life doesn't thrive on crisp packets, cig butts, banana skins and plastic! You could always earn yourself some Brownie points by picking up someone else's. The beach has two parts : the sandy area nearer the town and shingle near Corbyn Head - where the beach huts stand. Updated water quality reports are posted on the side of the nearby public toilets. The entire beach is ideal for children - and adults! Sandcastles can be built on the sandy part; while rock pools offer chances to explore at the other end. There's a very nice cafe near Corbyn Head offering hot and cold food, drinks, cake and ice creams. It has a beautiful view and parasols. The owner is friendly and helpful. Please note: this entire beach has an enforced dog ban between 1st May until the end of September. For the enjoyment of us all, please respect this. An all year dog accessible beach can be found near The Living Coasts beyond the harbour. Also note that there can sometimes be rip tides. So ensure it's safe to swim before venturing beyond your depth. If in doubt, ask a local. Although if a lot of people are in the sea it's a...

15th September 2024 12:48 PM Beautiful Tourquay seafront and harbour. Palm trees everywhere, lovely hourbour, good size sandy beach with clear water so we could see fish and crabs . Shops selling fudge, magnets, sweets, fish chips and coffee, mugs, showpieces etc.Shops like Primark, Waterstones, CinemaTheatre, McDonald's and Wetherspoons. Lots of little coves to explore further up and a coastal walk if you don't mind hills. The clean sand is an invitation to the sand artists who can be seen giving shape to their imaginations on the large canvass of the beach. The seafront itself is flat and has parking either side, with some lovely looking restaurants. The wishing well is a beautifull valued landmark where people do drop pennies in exchange to their hopes. The collection is used by the Council for charitable and welfare purposes. The harbour is so beautiful and well arranged.
