Sen Ichie — Restaurant in England

been here on 3 separate occasions food is always spot on, service however is always poor! staff aren’t very helpful but most importantly the wait time is aapauling, i completely understand if somewhere is busy but even on days we’ve visited that have been quiet the service is still slow and you do still get ignored. today for example we asked for a table for 2 to then be asked if we was going to be very long, how ironic. we waited awhile to order and when we finally did we asked for water for the table. our other drinks came. no water. asked again for the water as maybe they had forgotten. still waited and no water. 30/40 minutes waiting for some tap water. you have to constantly wave down a waiter if you need there attention, to which tonight was because they’d forgotten our starters but what topped it off ,as the lady came back over to confirm what it was they had forgotten she walked off mid conversation and shouted “OK” which was very rude! it’s such a shame as food is lovely but will not...

Ate at Sen Ichie with a group of 14 people. Upon sitting down the restaurant staff warned us our food would be a long time and that they had never handled such a large group.

Despite this the food arrived quickly and while the staff were clearly nervous about our group size they handled it well. Service was good and attentive. There was a minor mix-up with two of the meals but staff were very apologetic and as it was their first time handling such a large group I can't blame them.

Food was absolutely delicious and the price was very good for Wokingham. Menu was very easy to understand and there were hundreds of options.

I didn't realise until later that the final bill did not include a service charge (Something I wish more restaurants mirrored). If I had known I would have tipped more than 12.5%.

I will definitely be returning in future and...

Absolutely terrible service- half an hour wait in-between the first person being served their main Vs the last person who just had to sit with everyone else finished.. around ten mins between each main being bought out. Also bought out the wrong beers we ordered but as it was already opened we didnt say anything so they weren't wasted. Sushi was very mushy and watery, and I found 2!!! Fish bones in my sashimi?! Never before have I experienced this. It tasted briney and genuinely I think the worst sushi I've ever had. The delay in meals was joked off by staff telling us to order dessert whilst we waited for our friend to eat their dinner.. Don buris were all good, but tonkatsu was slightly cold and the ramen tasted like it was made from tinned soup, very disappointing. Definitely go into Reading for any Japanese food as there are excellent...
