Booked this restaurant for a private birthday party for friends and family from 11:30-16:00. Very positive experience. Rob was very friendly and very good at organising the event. We met twice before to work through the menu and drinks. Hamlet was very good at working with us to deliver the experience we wanted for our guests and suggested options that we hadn't necessarily thought of - like the best way of organising a drinks reception followed by food in the restaurant space. They also organised for us to have a speciality rum - all parts of the day were able to be bespoke to the party including the decorations and background music. On the day itself the staff went above expectations to make our day perfect, the food was phenomenal, the drinks options (cocktails/champagne /softs) all worked really well - and all our guests have commented on how much they enjoyed the experience. We booked a cake baker recommended by Rob and we highly recommend this restaurant for private parties in the future.

The best spot in Wokingham! The drinks and food menu (breakfast, lunch + dinner) has something for everyone! Not overly extensive - but quality over quantity is key, which I personally love as it makes deciding so much easier. The menu/ingredients frequently change according to the seasons to the ensure produce is at it’s finest, as well as provides variety to the dishes. Welcoming environment, attentive staff, outdoor seating, spacious floor plan (wheelchair access) and child friendly. Personal favourites: - Infamous Korean Fried Chicken (small plate). - Truffle and Parmesan Fries (sides) - Butterbean mash (deli) - Selection of bread and burnt butter houmous (deli) - Mushroom parfait (small plates) - Hamlet beans on toast (brunch) - Salmon Lox (brunch) - Eggs Royale (brunch) - Stanlake Rosé

A locally owned bistro using the best of local produce to produce outstanding brunches, lunches, dinners and Chefs Table events. The cosy ambiance and attentive service make it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed setting. The menu features a variety of dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, showcasing the best of modern European cuisine. There’s All Day Brunches, Small Places, Afternoon Bites and insanely good pasties. This place is a definite must visit! TRY : French Toast, Syrup Glazed Brioche, Greek Yoghurt, Homemade Fruit Compote OR Curried Cauliflower Fritters, Blue Cheese & Cheddar Dip My Top 5 places to dine in Wokingham https://www.tartanspoon.co.uk/home/5-restaurants-wokingham

The service and pricing really lets this place down. We came for a quick lunch, we were in there for about an hour in end it was so slow to get served and for the food to come. The waitresses spent more time hiding at the back of the restaurant chatting than actually serving. The most annoying aspect however is that pigeons kept coming inside the restaurant. A sensible male member of staff kept removing the pigeon via a side door but it kept coming back in the front door. He asked the girls to shut the front door to prevent this several times but they ignored him. Finally they shut it for about 5 mins, but then opened it again! I appreciate they can’t control birds, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t shut the door?! It’s gross enough that we had a pigeon under our dining table at one point, but the restaurant has an open kitchen and it just felt so unhygienic and disgusting. Very off putting.

I have to say the food was nice, so the chefs are doing something right. That said £47.50 for a Croque Madame, a steak sandwich, ‘truffle’ fries, a sparkling water and a smoothie is very steep. The truffle fries were just fries with truffle flavoured mayo and they were £8! And the smoothie was £6.50 and was just a bottled pre-made smoothie, we assumed it would be fresh for that price.

I have no idea if service was added to the bill as I wasn’t presented with a receipt, just a card machine, but tbh at that point we had THREE pigeons inside the restaurant and I just wanted to leave.

Nice food but this is a cafe at best and so the prices should be aligned with that vibe. And for goodness sake close the door to stop...

Receipt No. 2309590 Disappointed with Poor Quality and Slow Service

I recently visited for a cooked breakfast, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. The quality of the sausages and bacon was subpar, and the baked beans were inedible. In addition, the service provided by the staff was disappointingly slow and lacking in attentiveness.

Starting with the food, the sausages and bacon were of noticeably poor quality and they lacked flavour, which detracted from the dining experience. The baked beans, on the other hand, were completely inedible due to their unpleasant taste and texture. It was clear that the ingredients used were of low quality, and this greatly impacted the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Furthermore, the service at was remarkably sluggish. The staff seemed uninformed and disinterested, taking an excessive amount of time to acknowledge our presence and provide menus. Even after we placed our drink order, we had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for them to be served. To make matters worse, we didn't receive one of the drinks we had requested, showing a lack of attention to detail or care from the staff.

In summary, I regret to say that my experience was quite underwhelming. The poor quality of sausages and bacon, along with inedible baked beans, left me unsatisfied with the breakfast. Moreover, the slow and inattentive service provided by the staff further exacerbated the already poor experience. I hope the restaurant management takes note of these shortcomings and takes steps to rectify them for...

Look, I wanted to like Hamlet but there are several issues that I think the team need to address.

First, we sat outside for 20 minutes before someone came out to serve us. Inside, there was a group of 4 staff having a chat amongst themselves. It's nice to be sociable but 4 tables had to ask to order. Not a great start. No water offered despite it being 30 degrees outside.

Second, please please please learn to make an iced coffee. Pouring a hot latte over a small amount of ice is not the way. The result is lukewarm and really unpleasant to drink.

Third, the price. We ordered a kids sandwich and 2 lox bagels. The sandwich was literally 2 slices of supermarket bread (clearly not made fresh as the bread was slightly hard on top) with a slice of cheese.. ok I get it's simple for kids but £5 for that? Really? The bagel was nice enough but it left us feeling ripped off. Small plate, bagel slapped in the middle, no garnish. £15 is a bit of a laugh. The salmon was great quality but the presentation was incredibly underwhelming.

We would have complained there and then but the staff all disappeared.

I just couldn't recommend it for lunch at all. Maybe dinner is better, but i...
