We recently returned to the Shahi as they had changed ownership during the first lockdown and later reopened but without serving alcohol. They now do have a bar and serve alcohol and as a result people are willing to give it a try. Their previous owners set the bar extremely high and this was possibly the biggest thing the new owners have had to overcome. Since we have returned to the Shahi we have been impressed. The decor is bright, modern yet still retains it's culture and I love the addition of Bollywood music on a TV screen. It's not intrusive, it's there should u want to look at it or just listen to it. The food was excellent. We had the mixed starter for two. It had very generous portions so maybe keep that in mind if ordering a large main menu. The mains were delicious, I had lamb naga masala which was hot but still flavoursome, my partner had garlic chilli chicken. The heat depending on how many chillis you scooped onto your plate. All good portions although we struggled to finish because we had the starter and poppadoms before, so maybe we will forego one of those next time. Whilst they have not yet met the very highest standards set by previous owner , Pom, we feel the food is excellent and we now feel we have our local Indian Restaurant back and it is a place we are happy...
Read moreAs always under the view of the mighty mount everest and the common farmer ploughing his fields with his holy cows, whilst being wished the merriest of Christmas the food was spectacular. Friends of goodwill indulged in the mightiest of feast and the one and only Shahi. Beers are good too. While I thought thay the joy finsihed at the beers, the staff delivered what can only be described as beautiful and seductive service which not only stimulated my pallette, but also my outlook on life. They provided the most elegant of ladies fingers. Irrespective of food, ambiance alone should alure any gentile to this establisment ; emphatic, simple and beautiful. Along with ambiance, youre simultaneously plunged into a world of tip-of-the-tongue spices and deep palette sensations. My only critisism is that the food was so good i couldnt possibly see myself eating anywhere else. There is a good...
Read moreThe food was absolutely awful. Even the kids chicken nuggets, that was charged at £7.90 for each plate and were terrible low quality chicken popcorns from corner shop and French fries were so greasy, wasn’t really Chips as stated on the menu. Starter shashi platter for two to share, where there were no King Prawns and the tandoori grill were all dried and no taste. My husband mentioned it to the waiter, he went to the kitchen and brought a bowl with two king prawns inside. He said he didn’t know what was wrong with the kitchen as it wasn’t normally served like that! It was only one server running up and down. The wait was long but it was okay as long as the food was good. Maybe we were just unfortunate. We spent £77.80 for such disappointment. Overall experience, I don’t think we will ever return at any cost whenever we pay visit to the Coral...
