I have been a loyal customer of Steakout for over three years under both the previous and new management. In the last month alone, I have visited at least five times with friends. Unfortunately, my recent experience on my birthday has left me deeply disappointed.
I visited Steakout with a group of about ten friends to celebrate my birthday. We ordered our meals, but my order was incorrect—I was supposed to receive a burger which never arrived. Initially, I waited as the order was quite large and I thought it was still being prepared. After about 15-20 minutes, I brought this to the attention of the supervisor/manager, a female employee, and I was met with a lack of concern. She was unapologetic, her tone and body language were dismissive, and she made no effort to rectify the situation properly.
She was the one who took my order and messed it up, yet her only "solution" was to assure me I wouldn’t be charged for the burger I never received. This is the bare minimum and far from adequate. When I suggested a goodwill gesture, like a discount on the meal, she sarcastically offered not to charge for the chilies—a trivial item on a £280 bill. This token gesture was insulting, especially since I have never been charged for chilies at Steakout before.
In stark contrast, a young male employee showed more initiative and concern than the manager. He offered to have my burger made, but by then my friends had finished eating, and I wasn’t willing to make them wait another 10 minutes. His effort was appreciated, but the damage was done, and I left without the burger.
This isn't the first time I've encountered poor service from this particular manager. Her unprofessional attitude has been a recurring problem, but this incident was particularly egregious. Given my long-standing loyalty to this restaurant, I expected far better customer service and a more considerate resolution to the issue.
Additionally, it seems that the staff at Steakout are unable to handle busy periods effectively. They often appear understaffed, leading to significant delays. During busy times, particularly from 7pm onwards, there are usually only two or three people serving, resulting in long wait times to place orders and receive food. The staff are clearly overextended, running around trying to manage the workload, which affects the overall service quality.
I strongly urge Steakout to address these issues, especially the unprofessionalism of their management and the understaffing during busy periods, to ensure a better experience for all customers...
Read moreWhere do I even begin? I've only been here twice and I can safely say that it is simply one of the best dining experiences I have had in the past 7 years. The first time I visited this branch I was very sick and couldn't enjoy the food properly. However even though I was under the weather the taste and cook of the food blew me away. Fast forwarding to the second time this is where everything just elevated! Every single aspect of the restaurant completely blew me away and ticked all boxes. The staff and customer service is second to none, amazing friendly staff who actually listen. The hygiene and presentation of the restaurant is also amazing. Very clean and tidy and the toilets were in perfect condition, the food was a solid 10 out of 10. For starters we ordered a roulette of wings which are essentially a couple of their wings in random marinades ranging from the suicide option to honey mustard, they were cooked to perfection and went down a treat. For mains I ordered a 200g rib eye steak with a side of fries and the steak out sauce. The steak comes with an option of a plain marinade or a steak out "hot" marinade. Of course I went with the hot marinade as I love my spice! It came presented on a sizzling skillet board and continued cooking to YOUR liking, a very smart idea which gives control to the customer. I got my steak cooked medium well and what can I say... the steak was cooked to absolute PERFECTION! It melted in the mouth and was bursting with flavour, every bite made me sad as I was nearing to finishing it. The fat that marbled the steak was also very juicy and flavourful. The marinade gave the steak a very unique taste, along with the steak came some grilled onions which added depth to the meal. The best steak I have eaten in 7 years. Absolute gold. My friend ordered a chicken and mushroom pie with fries which came with gravy. The pastry was flaky and soft at the same time, the filling was moist warm and full of flavour. A perfect comfort food dish. I tried some and fell in love. To wrap up this review I cannot even say one thing wrong about this restaurant especially this branch absolutely perfect. I went and had to give compliments to the chef and waitress. I am definitely coming back here, 10 out of 10 across the board. I HIGHLY highly...
Read moreBooked a table for four for 8pm. When I called the lady on the phone asked me if we were breaking fast. I informed her that we weren't as none of us were Muslim. My friend arrived first and took a seat in an empty restaurant. The manager/waitress was placing platters of complimentary fruit and bottles of water with glasses on the tables for those who were clearly going to be breaking fast. No problem. She then explained to my friend who was watching that the platters were only for those who were breaking fast. More so, she then removed the water and glasses from the table so my friend didn't even have a drink.
Firstly, if you're trying to get customers to return then surely giving out an extra small platter of fruit and complimentary tap water would have been appreciated. Secondly, to be informed that simply because someone is the wrong faith is both discriminatory and offensive. Finally, I thought fasting (and the breaking of) was about sharing and appreciating the joys of what we have around us. It made the rest of the meal particularly uncomfortable and like our custom was not wanted. I mean, removing water? That's pretty low.
Onto the food. It was decent enough and the burgers was tasty, even thought they were slightly on the small side and overpriced in some cases. I have eaten at much better burger joints which charge considerably less. The atmosphere was loud and raucous, as is to be expected in a (which we now know) to be a Halal restaurant on Ramadan - everyone was starving understandably. Would I recommend it? No, not particularly because as I've said, I've had better. The service couldn't cope with the amount of people there to break fast - I had to go to the bar in the end to ask for the bill but then in all fairness, people arrived en masse at that particular time so I didn't mind waiting a little.
I know that the above was not done with malicious intent but it made an experience which is meant to be fun and enjoyable into something hostile and unpleasant. All in all, if you like a serving of discrimination with your burger and fries, give it a go. If not, then...
