Strawberry Lounge — Restaurant in England

I've passed here so many times and every time tell myself I'll try it out next time I'm here.....well, yesterday I did!! And I'm so pleased I did!! Located down an alleyway, it's tucked away, but you can't miss it....let the strawberries lead you to it! Once in, the staff were lovely and welcoming. We were shown to our table, and all of the boards were pointed out with different types of scones, cakes (all sounded delicious....) soup of the day, etc, and then there's the menu with other items like jacket potatoes, toasties, and the like. There are lots of drinks on offer, too. I noticed jacket potatoes other customers had ordered, and they looked awesome!

The place itself is quirky. Natural stone walls, an open fire to take the chill off, little lights all around, just lovely.

I chose a goats cheese scone with onion chutney and an Americano.....a lovely cup of coffee. My partner just had a cappuccino (although proceeded to help me eat my scone!), which he also said was a lovely cuppa. The scone was absolutely delicious (and huge)....and the onion chutney was even tastier!! The variety of scones sounded delicious, too. It was a difficult choice to make.....I'll have to go back and try another flavour!!

We had an amazing time here yesterday. I don't normally write reviews but this place was so fab I have to! I'll start with how dog friendly it was. Our dog was provided with a blanket to lie on, and a bowl of ham! The food selection was very impressive. The soup was delicious and decadent topped with goats cheese and croutons and the afternoon tea was gorgeous. So many different options including quiche, pie, sandwiches, cake and a scone and you could select which of each of these you wanted. Was vegetarian friendly and not at all tokenistic. Multiple veggie options to choose from. The scone menu was amazingly extensive as well as tasting incredible and the cake slices are massive with a huge variety to choose from. Toasties were generous with filling. All of this was also excellent value. Lovely staff and atmosphere and brilliant service. Loved the decor as well. Their menu also included lots of yummy looking smoothies which we will try next time. It was honestly one of the best cafe lunches I've ever had and we will be...

Gluten free options were almost non existent so had to leave. Really surprised at the reviews saying this place is gluten free friendly place

Update following owners response. I would say it was actually rather silly of you to

1. say yes to a simple take away order then tell us half way through us ordering that we would be better going elsewhere
2. have all of those gluten free options yet offer us the choice of a toastie (for which there would be a long wait while you baked the bread) or nothing. I said could I take anything simple from the cakes, like a gluten free scone and you said - and I quote - no we have absolutely nothing. So if you’re not willing to offer up your apparently vast array of gluten free cakes & bakes - or if you’ve sold out of every item by midday - then I stand firmly by my point that as a gluten free customer, this was NOT a friendly or...
