Had a very unpleasant experience at this bar yesterday (14th July) myself and my husband had dinner here around 5:30, the football was coming on so we decided to stay since we had a table that wasn’t already reserved, I nipped out to our hotel around 7.15 which was 2 mins away and on returning was told by a very unpleasant security / doorman that I wasn’t allowed back in as there was now a que of people waiting and he said they were full to capacity, I explained that i was with my husband and that we had a table, he quite rudely advised he didn’t care I wasn’t getting back in until someone leaves! He then went into the bar and left his colleague at the door, a man arrived and told the doorman he had a table and that he just nipped out for something so he let him go in!! I said to him that I’m just the same so why am I not allowed in!! He couldn’t give me an answer so I told him I was going in to get my husband and that we would be leaving anyway, I sat down to finish my drink before we left and the nasty security guy another security guard and a member of bar staff approached us and told us we were to leave the premises and that we wouldn’t be getting served! After having several drinks and a meal we were really disappointed at being treated in this way! Clearly the security guy thinks he can throw some authority around and has no respect for anyone! As for the member of staff she was no better really which is sad as all the young people who work there and served us up until then were all very pleasant, we told them we were leaving anyway and that we will not be visiting this bar again when we next return to the beautiful city of York, we watched the game in our hotel (the radisson) on a huge screen where it was nice and peaceful so glad we...
Read moreThe food was to be honest, appalling. Two of the people on my table ordered the “tacos”. When they arrived I actually thought it was a joke. It was 2 measly, dry pieces of tortilla with barely a quarter of a chicken nugget thrown on top. There was no sauce, and a pathetic amount of lettuce. Considering that was going to cost £7.50 each, I returned both plates and asked for them to swapped for chicken wings. The attitude I got from 2 members of staff when I asked for this was shocking, and I’m not sure why I had to speak to 2 different members of staff when the first person had agreed to swap it out.
By the time the chicken wings came to replace the tacos, everyone else had finished their food. The wings had no sauce and were dry. The sauce came separately about 5 minutes later.
I had the loaded fries which were lukewarm, there was a smidgen of chicken on them and the cheese had gone extremely hard on the fries. But because of the attitude I got back when trying to complain about the tacos, I just shut up and ate them.
I appreciate you’re not trying to be a Michelin star establishment, but people are paying a significant price for bad quality...

Stood at the bar for about 5 minutes with no one around, no idea if we are just meant to sit or order at the bar… eventually female manager and a male employee appear from out back.. and walk straight past us. No sorry, no hi hello be with you in a moment. They Stand at the cask ales talking and explaining how to pull it through. Eventually turns back to us and very abruptly demands to see ID. We show her and order and ask if we are able to order food. Eye roll and told menus on the table come back to order at the bar, but know the kitchen shuts at ten so get your order in so they have time to close down. It’s 8.45!!!! We sit down, decide what we want, and come back to order. Several others stood waiting to order also. After almost ten minutes with no one appearing we walk back to our table finish our drinks and leave. Absolute Joke. Train your staff, you’ve missed out on a new set of...
