This place has changed hands, as has the concept, unfortunately to its detriment. That's not to say it's a bad place at all but for what I had today it was rather disappointing. Now, the coffee is excellent and not too dear, and they have a lovely selection of cakes etc- be prepared to shell out, though.
Now, the rest of the experience is sadly lacking. Service was painfully slow- at least half an hour for food that needed no cooking. Drinks were also sluggish to arrive. The menu itself is also trying too hard. Stretching yourself as a small café is never a good idea, as the food becomes fussy, unfocused and pricey. A platter of local food- including of all things Stilton and Brie - was in fact merely a plate of food, and not very exciting. It was also more than £7. For this price the food didn't quite match expectations.
The staff are lovely, but the place doesn't need to try so hard. The hot drinks are excellent, so are the baked goods. Simple sandwiches and soups are more than enough for Easingwold if food is...
Read moreTeaHee used to be fabulous, (pre pandemic) but unfortunately it's really changed and not for the better.
I had a panini today, which was fine, although the crisps it came with were stale. The appearance of the cafe and atmosphere was cold and neglected (it needs a coat of paint and it just feels like no one cares about it). Also, there was no noticable heating, so it was literally cold too! The service was poor - there was one waitress and she didn't come back even once to see if we wanted anything else. She also didn't know what the specials were and couldn't answer a question about the food. I'm so sorry to leave a bad review, but it now compares very unfavourably with the other cafes in Easingwold. We didn't stay for pudding/cake and went across the square to another cafe for that, which was well decorated, had a good atmosphere and great service - the comparison made TeaHee seem even bleaker! So disappointing that it's...
Read moreOutstanding coffee, with an intricate blend of flavour: well worth going out of your way to stop by Easingwold just to visit this little cafe even just to experience the coffee. When combined with friendly chat with the owners Michele & Rob and staff, pleasant atmosphere, range of tempting cakes, snacks and gifts (I picked up a couple of jars of chutney and specialist marmalade on my last visit), you'll wish this coffee shop was your local, and not 200 miles away as it is for me... Clearly a popular choice, there can sometimes be a little wait to be served, but well worth it (and if the tables are full up, you can always get things to-go). Can't wait to be back in North Yorkshire for another visit to this gem called TeaHee!, halfway between York and Thirsk, on the edge of the Howardian Hills area of outstanding...
