We went to The Pie and Oyster in Easingwold for our anniversary. It was quiet but this is a new venture in an old pub so not disappointed as once people start to sample the cuisine I feel sure it will get very busy. The meat and cheese sharing platter was superb. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and ambient music played in the background. All in all a great experience.

Fine friendly pub, great atmosphere and most enjoyable visits. Good to be able to sit outside in the Autumn sunshine and enjoy some excellent beer. Delighted that the friends from the "Angel" have kept together and moved their allegiance to the "York"!

Called in yesterday to catch up with a friend. On entering l noticed a strong smell of paint which l thought was a bit odd. I had a pleasant hour catching up and Gary behind the bar was a further addition to the happy atmosphere of the pub. Thankfully l was getting close to leaving when this was shattered. I'm disabled and need to use a stick to walk, l had hung this on the bar top, letting it drop down the front. A guy l now know to be the licensee appeared and barked at me to get it off the bar as it had just been painted. Myself and another customer became confused as to what he meant, because nothing was wet, which he then continued by saying it was the front. The other customer replied that it was fine, to which the angry guy replied "it was before you touched it". Hard to understand what sort of muppet paints a bar before opening a pub and even harder to understand why he would shout at customers for being near it. Shame it's his pub...

We came here for a quick pint waiting for a bus into york and we asked a couple of questions about when they were going etc and the guy behind the bar was very chatty and welcoming. We said we were from north wales and we had a lovely chat and he had loads of recommendations for us for the local area. A really...
