A great place for Ale drinkers with a good choice of Ales and guest ales too. There is a nice seating area out the back which is dog friendly. Its nice and old worldly inside too. The staff are excellent and knowledgeable for sure. A great place to visit on the walk down from Bridgnorth high town to the river, or returning to your car if parked in the low town. Guinness is well looked after. Well worth a visit.

This historic inn is my favourite in Bridgnorth. As the only remaining Cartway pub, it is full of character and beautifully maintained. Lots of indoor seating spaces and a lovely decking area at the back overlooking the river Severn. A great selection of well-kept cask ales available. No hot food, but the hearty cobs (just £3 each in July 2025) are a perfect accompaniment to a couple of pints.

Best pint in Bridgnorth by a country mile. Staff and locals really friendly, the building just oozes history and character and the cheese and onion cobbs are fantastic. Love it!

Visited The Black Boy Inn for the first time on Sunday 09 September 2018. The pub is on the Cartway closer to Low Town than High Town in Bridgnorth and does not have a car park. We parked in a small car park on River Side for 60p for two hours - the place only had six spaces and you might have to park further away.

The pub is a gentle uphill walk from this part of town. As you enter the pub there are two rooms with the main bar on the left hand side. There are five real ales available on the bar , all light coloured beers. I tried a half of Greene King Golden Hen which was ok . We then went over to the quieter right hand room and sat by the window. There is a lovely fireplace in this room and I imagine it is most welcoming in winter when it is lit.

At the rear of The Black Boy is a smaller patio area with the toilets located...
