Having spent a few hours on the river, we decided to pop into the boatyard for a spot of mid-afternoon lunch and a pint.
Unfortunately, their sandwich menu finishes at 15:00, and we arrived at 15:20, so no Cajun chicken sandwich for me. Instead, we rolled out the hot dog and chips.
The hot dog was a proper frankfurter good girth and length ... (pauses for the sniggering to stop) and the chips were great too. The only letdown? No mustard in the condiments box!
Given the heat, we sat inside the bar (the beer garden was filled to the brim), though at one point, the bar got so packed with punters it felt like we were a boat drifting on a river of people.

The garden is a real sun trap in the afternoons in the summer where it is very popular on a hot day.
Though check out its opening hours as they are surprisingly shorter than you would think.
A few higher end lagers and ciders are available as are soft drinks gins etc. The price is quite high.
The food, however, is reasonably priced and is operating on a reduced menu during these times of Covid in August 2020.
Well worth a visit to relax in and enjoy the sun.
