@thevikingchefs Bridgnorth, Shropshire ⭐️5/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸 Nestled in the quaint town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, Viking Chef offers a unique culinary experience with a distinct Danish flair. The atmosphere creates that hygge feel, making it a cozy and comfortable place to enjoy your meal. During our visit, we experienced an exciting 6-course tasting menu paired perfectly with a variety of schnapps. At £45pp with drinks we thought this was great value. The first course featured herring on rye bread prepared two ways, one topped with a curried mayo that was simply perfect. If you’ve been hesitant about trying herring, Viking Chef’s preparation might just change your mind! Gravadlax was served plain and simple, showcasing natural flavours and quality ingredients. The plaice, while delightful, could have done with a sauce or pickle to add some zing. However, it was still a very pleasant dish with a good balance of textures. The pork belly, paired with fig schnapps and served on a crunchy Danish slaw, was delicious. Moving onto the dessert courses, starting with the ‘King of Denmark cocktail’ which was a fun surprise, paired with a delightful rhubarb and star anise panna cotta. Finally the evening finished on sweet, spiced stewed apple. We were stuffed! Viking Chef brings something entirely unique to Shropshire, and perhaps even the Midlands with its blend of Danish atmosphere and fantastic food. It’s certainly a refreshing addition to a town that is most definitely thriving with a new and exciting food scene. #theshropshirefoodies

So good we came here 2 days in a row! The first day we had Danish pastries and coffee on the sunny terrace. It was such a lovely experience that we booked a table outside for our family the next day, and feasted on the Danish Brunch Platter (includes rye bread and sourdough – not pictured!). The food was gorgeous and the team were super friendly and flexible with the menu and our orders. (From our family: we also recommend the smoked salmon, open sandwiches and fish chowder.) Lots of drinks options too: all the teas, juices and soft drinks like lemon and mint lemonade. Erik, Sarah and the team are also offering Evening Dates for a 3-course dinner of Fish dishes (hopefully there will be more in the future!). The Viking Chefs doesn't feel like it's in town – the terrace is peaceful and has stunning views of the river and Bridgnorth Low Town. With the sun it felt like we were relaxing on holiday in a faraway place 😎 Outside, there are around 7 or 8 tables on the patio with seats for around 30 people, and inside seating for 18. We would love to keep this hidden gem all to ourselves, but the food is too good not to shout about!

We had a look through the window when deciding where to have lunch and on viewing the 2 plates that had just been delivered to the nearest table both thought ‘yes’! It was great to see a cafe booked out at lunchtime, so that was also reassuring! Fantastic quality of food and value for money. Would highly recommend the burrata and the selection of open sandwiches were also delicious and great value. Lovely owners and great service. We’ll definitely be back when we next visit 😊 selection of cakes were also amazing!

I ventured to this charming establishment this morning with three adults and two children, filled with the promise of a delightful breakfast. Three of us ordered the eggs on toast, while one brave soul opted for the star of the show: pancakes with bacon. Before placing the order for the kids, I innocently inquired whether they had children-sized pancakes or if the portion was generously large enough to share. The waitress assured me the portion was "very big" and sharing would be no problem at all.

When the food arrived, we could hardly contain our excitement… and our laughter. One medium pancake accompanied by two slices of hastily cooked bacon? Seriously embarrassing! I guess “pancakes” must have taken on a new definition in their menu. And at a startling £9.50, I was underwhelmed to find that “pancakes” actually translates to “pancake.” My mistake for expecting at least two of the fluffy delights for that price! After we ate our food and paid our bill, I took a moment to speak with Sarah (I’m pretty sure that was her name, the lovely owner), hoping to provide some constructive feedback. I politely pointed out that their menu indicates “pancakes,” which certainly implies more than one. Unfortunately, my comment was dismissed with the same enthusiasm as a soggy toast. A quick “goodbye” was all I got in response.

In summary, if you’re in the market for a pancake that defies convention and a side of indifference, look no further! Just be prepared to pay a small fortune for a singular, overcooked masterpiece. Truly one of the most expensive...
