The location is picturesque along the Yarm River, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I truly loved my visit to this great little spot. The pints were well poured, portion sizes were excellent with great value for money and the Parmo's were second to none. The atmosphere is relaxing with real log fires and plenty of seating. During my visit, it was relatively quiet. However, I can imagine it gets pretty lively at times. A must-stop location when in Yarm with the best Parmo I've ever had. Update: Upon my latest visit to The Blue Bell, I was slightly surprised at some of the changes that have taken place. The atmosphere is still warm and inviting, and the team is friendly. The presentation of meals is great. However, that being said, I waited for over 45 minutes between my starter and main course. My main was a mixed grill, which I expected, as one does with a large menu item, to wait a while. What arrived was a shockingly small portion, and while it had all the items of a mixed grill, the portions were in remarkably small sizes, including an overcooked steak and poorly seasoned supermarket chips with cheap seasoning dumped on top leaving the chips underneath totally bland and tasteless. It made me wonder if this was in an effort to save on money or time... neither of which was achieved, especially considering I paid what I would consider the average price for a mixed grill which is already more than what it used to be. Furthermore, I witnessed a lot of uncoordinated staff who attempted to clear my cutlery and condiments away despite having not yet received my meal and not checking back with customers who asked questions, instead leaving to go do something else. Overall, I would say the quality of service needs improvement, as do the portion sizes. I would be delighted to return and give this lovely place another chance to change my mind.

First impressions looking at the views were amazing! Even tho it was raining and we couldn't sit outside and make most of it. We ordered calamari and it was amazing!!! That's the 2 points that gave the place its 2☆s I had the scampi main. It was very standard but the lemon slice was pathetically small! They are meant to be wedges so it can be squeezed. My friends fish was greasy yet very dry. Extremely disappointing. Then I went to the bathroom. Whilst getting some tissue paper, the opening fell forward and smacked me in the face!!!! I came out and told a member of staff and her response was 1 word "Apologies" She didn't ask if I was ok!!! All the young staff seemed very eager and friendly, but I believe they'd get better training and experience in a different establishment Update/reply: I shouldn't have to keep asking for lemon. It should be a reasonable size to begin with. Regarding the bathroom incident You clearly didn't even listen to what I said. I told you it hit me in the face and said LUCKILY it didn't hit my head as I have brain cancer. A 1 word answer isn't "very apologetic" You literally said "Apologies" then went on to speak to a member of staff about who it was that hadn't fastened the holder correctly. Maybe you were having a bad day, cause the person you are portraying now is not the 1 I believe we had on our visit.

Only went in to turn the car round but thought it looked lovely and would pop in for a coffee. Best thing I did all day latte was lovely and the staff behind the bar as busy as they was still made time for every customer. As for the food tho that taken awhile To come to the table and everyone seems to moan about that. But good food takes time to cook and I have no problem waiting for food. If you want fast food go KFC. The parking. I read loads of reviews while having my coffee and mostly they're pathetic moaning about getting a fine. It's in nearly every pub nowadays where you have to put your reg in and I welcome it. It means you no you'll get a space instead of people parking there all day and walking to work. Plus I no it's not rocket science but if your the driver and your parking it's your job to make sure 'you' park 'your' car somewhere safe and legal. You get a fine it's your own fault. This pub is a good hour away from home but I would definitely recommend going and I'll be taking mum again soon

Rude inconsiderate staff. . Called us cheeky b''''''''''gz for using toilets before ordering meals We were going to order meals. .pop out for a walk and pop back. Due to health problems I cannot walk far. But the manager presumed we had just popped in to use toilet . And went off on a rant. Had already asked the bar man if okay to use toilet before a short walk. He nodded and then Soon as my back was turned I heard the manager say..can you believe those cheeky bu.....rs.... Just popping in to use toilet. He muttered this a few times and presumed I didn't hear. I may be old but I'm not deaf yet. Well we would have ordered some drinks for our return and pop in as regular customers on other occasion but the attitude was awful You would have had much more money back off us than the cost of a toilet flush and a square of paper. Call yourself hospitality. .I have never had any such bad customer service ever. Extremely rude attitude. .was spoken to rudely before getting chance to complete short walk to use the facilities husband had already spoken to a member of staff stating we would be back after a little walk and had asked about using facilities even though reply states the opposite. I can't walk far due to bone disabilities and health issues. You made me cry I hope you are happy with this. We did not know pub was about to close for food as was first and now last visit. Pubs do not normally stop a customer on route to toilet and shout you are not welcome we are closing shortly. My heath problems cause sudden urgently needs of toilet. I just have to go quickly. Haven't got time to look for staff to ask. I would have bought a few packets of crisps as a polite thanks once realise that you had stopped serving food but was too shocked at the inhospitable attitude. Husband had already been in pub to clarify parking conditions and asked to use toilet then. It was not 10 minutes before closing it was 5.15pm..no-one said..sorry we are closing. Google said open til 10.30. You told us we wouldn't have time to come back cos last orders would be called at 6pm. Last orders had not been called when we arrived. Actually we would have been back by 6pm but due to rude attitude we were put off. Swearing at customers and calling them is wholly unacceptable and there is a list of bad reviews and not very polite response. I was too upset to have my little walk but if I had read the other customers reviews who had had bad rude attitude from you I would have realised that the cheeky b------rs are yourselves. .my favourite review is the one where you wouldn't supply water for a dog cos you are not a pet friendly pub. .well it turns out you are judgemental and not people friendly...

My son and I popped in here for some lunch. Upon ordering our meal I was told by the bar staff we had to take our own sauces and cutlery to the table which I did. Our food arrived, and when I was about to add a little salt I realised I hadn’t picked up the salt and pepper as my hands were full of other things. I politely asked the waitress who delivered our food if she wouldn’t mind bringing us the salt and pepper? At this her response was “your meant to do that yourself “ which I found to be poor hospitality, rude , undignifying and un welcoming I could understand if they were busy and staff were rushed if their feet, but actually 3 staff were stood at the bar chatting and there was me my son and 1 other couple in the whole pub. I waited 10mins and I’d still not received any salt and pepper so I went to go see what had happened and to fetch the salt myself as my food was getting cold. At this as I walked in, I saw the waitress stood at the bar chatting to her colleagues As you could imagine, this made me furious so I’d asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out to see me. I explained the above situation and apologised for not taking all my condiments to my table, however it was not going to break anyone’s back to offer some good customer service and good courtesy in grabbing a little salt. The manager then said, the waitress had been to see him, and at that the decision she made as to not bring a bit of salt was with her manager’s blessing. When I think about it, it’s such a shame that people lack so my human compassion and that they would out of stubborn behaviour treat a customer in such a way. I will NEVER return to that place. I don’t think I’ve ever been disrespected and treat like such a dumbo in all my...
