The Burger Bar Club Leigh — Restaurant in England

My stomach bellowed on a glum but rather humid Monday afternoon. Upon inspecting the fridge - rats, nothing. I looked down at my rumbling midsection and sighed tapping in my password for the always omnipresent JustEat app. It was then I saw The Burger Bar Club advertised.

I shrugged and quickly scanned their menu adding a chicken burger with an extra breast to my order along with the somewhat healthier sweet potato fries - I looked and nodded proudly at myself in the mirror for ordering the healthier option.

Now it began…the wait. I refreshed the page I wonder ho- knock knock on my window. The abrupt sound snapped me from the daze as I opened the door and thanked the middle aged man smiling at me, giving him a tip and closing the door.

It was extremely well packaged and felt hot - even through the bag. I first came across a sealed box; my sweet potato fries. They were crispy, not too greasy, perfectly sorted and boy was there plenty of them - the portion was enough for two. I tasted one and another anddd another before stopping myself.

The burger…I grinned and whipped the other box open much like a child on Christmas morning. It was quite the size. I had a double chicken breast burger with onions, tomato, lettuce and fresh chilli. From the first bite to the last it was amazing. The bun wasn’t soggy, the chillis were ripe, the chicken was well cooked and the salad was fresh.

What seemed like forever but was realistically a couple of minutes went by as i plunged my hand back into the cardboard box where my fries once were where all that met my hand was the waxy cardboard bottom.

Damn it…I’d finished.

Came here with my partner for dinner as I had seen all the posts on Instagram and I am a burger lover so I absolutely had to give this place a go. So very glad that we did, we were greeted by two lovely front of house members of staff; Tequila and Will, could not fault their service at all, both very well presented, friendly and attentive, both assets to your team at The Burger Bar. They were working very hard managing both the restaurant and the many phone orders for takeaway and collection that they received all in the hour we were there.

The food was sublime, a proper good quality beef patty in the burger, plated with care and looked lovely when it came out to us. We had a side of fries and fried chicken with the spicy chipotle dip which were also both very tasty. My partner had the Cajun chicken salad which he was also very pleased with. One issue I would say is that the drink selection is quite limited but given the size of the restaurant you would absolutely expect this. And I wish you guys were in a bigger space so you could get more people in at a time because you absolutely deserve it, burgers better than anywhere else I’ve had.

I came in today with my partner as it looked nice but ended up being a very disappointing experience; 20 minutes after ordering our milkshakes we were told they couldn’t do one of them due to missing an ingredient, and eventually received them after a total of 25 minutes; this was especially surprising as we were the only 2 people in the venue at the time. When the food arrived I was also disappointed that the burgers we’d ordered, despite being ~£11 each came with no chips and were quite small, for that price I didn’t expect such small and lonely burgers. We never had any sort of check back from the waitress nor did she ask if any of our food and drink was okay, and she needed reminding several times before we got our water and later on our bill. Her customer service was poor and she clearly had very little confidence or experience, and being someone who’s worked in hospitality for a while I understand that it is stressful, but why she was on her own on a shift with no-one but the chef is beyond me, they clearly haven’t taken the time to give her any basic training and it really showed in the way we were treated while we were there. I wouldn’t come back given the choice as for the money we spent, the underwhelming customer service, and small portion sizes it just...
