The Centenary — Restaurant in England

Was suppose to be my special birthday lunch . On arriving to our previous booked table all previous plates and empty glasses were still on a dirty table we sat there choosing our meals still no one comes to clean up it was only when we went to the bar to order did my son ask someone to come clean the tables . We waited 55 minutes for our meal which I can say was a very big disappointment I ordered the steak pie on arrival there was this burnt block of what should have been puff pastry I could not cut it with my own knife I had to use my sons steak knife the pastry was rock hard I did have a taste and it tasted burnt and i was almost sick my son who is a chef said he would never have sent it out in the first place we took it back and I got a beef Sunday lunch which was cold soggy bottomed Yorkshire pudding and as for the roasties aunt Bessie would have been appalled. I don't like complaining at best of tines so I just left it . Also my sons both got the mixed grill one wanted there steak rare and got medium rare the other wanted medium rare and got well done . This was suppose to be my special day my son had secretly arranged for me and was ruined by the lack of husbandry and good food total disappointment won't be going again I only gave it one star because it wouldn't let me continue without...

Just been today and it was not good. Things missing from the order, felt like an inconvenience to the staff, very low energy and low effort. Sat for 20 minutes waiting for the lady to take the plates and bring my daughters desert.

Told the staff about the quality of the food and the answer was "That'll be the lad we just sent home" and walked off. Not sure what to do with that info. Guess we'll wait and see if we get sick in the next few days.

So we've been back a couple of times since, and it's been quite positive. Food was getting really nice. Staff were friendly. But, first time we've been back in about a month and a half, and we must have upset someone. Staff were miserable (except for one lad who was lovely and had a bit of a joke with my little girl).

Had to ask for cutlery because we weren't given enough. There were only three of us. Waiter was too busy taking photos with other guests.

Food quality has really took a dip but, of course, the price has gone up. All a bit slap dash. When we'd finished waitress must have walked past us a dozen times. Flat out refusing to clear the plates until the young lad had to do it to put my daughters dessert down.

I don't think we'll be going back to be honest. Maybe it was just a bad day, but we're...

We booked a table for 13 we where put on two tables one was put behind use. Some people didn't show up so managed to get everyone on one table. We ordered starters and mains the halloumi fries where over cooked and dry, portions weren't the same. The mains the ultimate tikka masala, rice had to be broken up because it had been microwaved you got a bigger portion in a ready meal and two tiny onion bhaji. My brother ordered sausage mash and gravy the mash was rubbery and he sent it back, this was definitely microwaved as the staff admitted to him he got a refund. My self and my daughter ordered burgers both with chips they came cold and one was under cooked my daughter sent it back and told them she didn't want another one as it put her off, but they sent another one anyway and she refused it. Some of the orders came with other people's food on there plate ( onion bhaji, chicken wings). Me and the wife used to come hear quite often but since been taken over the standard of food is below average..... my mother got food spilt on her when they were cleaning the table.The chefs haven't got a clue will not be returning.
