I've been popping into this place occasionally since it opened and it has a few good and bad points.
Firstly the bad... It's arrogant to assume that everyone can pay by card. There are many groups in society who, for various reasons, can't access a debit or credit card. Additionally, some people like myself prefer to use cash on a night out to better budget and monitor spending. Last night I noticed several people disappointed to not be able to pay with cash.
The food menu is great if you enjoy sloppy burgers or fried chicken. Beyond that, there isn't much choice, which is a shame as their pizzas used to be great.
It can be a pricey place to visit. I understand it's expensive to run a business, plus you pay more for quality. However, it means that a visit is more of a treat than a regular occasion.
And the good... The beer selection is fair/good. I can normally find at least a couple of craft beers I enjoy. Real ale drinkers may find the choice more limited, as many of the drinks are very powerfully hopped with great effort to be of a hazy appearance.
The place has a nice vibe, with a great balance of being both a relaxing and energetic environment.
The staff are pleasant and friendly. Over the years they have become more professional and less personal, which has its pros and cons.
The Monday night quiz was very busy last night and seemed great fun. The noise level meant that a member of our group, who has hearing difficulties, spent much if the evening very detached from the group/conversion.
Finally, I loved this place when it first opened as it was fresh and different. I'd love to score higher, but something just seems to have been lost along the way, which is...
Read morePaid over 40 pounds for a couple pizzas, You even have to chose a delivery slot so i was willing to wait the hour and a half... yet still no pizzas!! No contact details at all for the restaurant, no email, no phone nothing... it's almost like they are actively hiding their details! I checked my bank and I have been charged. Use delivery at you own risk.
Edit - I have emailed the site but I can't reply to your reply below as this site is for reviews, not Q and A! Hence why you need some contact details, Phone, email, carrier pigeon, anything would help!
2nd edit - the email provide: orders@thedeadpigeon.com also doesn't work. I give up! I accept the loss of money but I advise others to be cautious.
3rd edit. You're missing the point completely! You're website managed to charge me fine! If I could attach pics to this review I would show you the bounce back email and the pic of the bank charge.... I can not believe I have to create a Facebook account to make a complant... this is a function all business require to offer by law! I am now very frustrated as STILL I have no method of contacting site other than via Google review and social media (which I don't use). Loads of ways to contact you?? Facebook or an email with a dns error? There's no way I'm leaving a private email address on Google, why is this business so keen to hide it's contact details? Seems suspicious in itself! Awful customer service!
Remember the reason people use Dominoes... ...
Read moreAwesome burger but... Understated shopfront leads to this hidden gem in Medway, North Kent. Enter and you are greeted by a relaxed seating area where you grab your own seat where available. You can't book for normal visits. Download the menu on your phone via a QR code and start choosing. Have to say all the burgers looked awesome and we chose four different ones, loaded fries and wings. You then order at the bar which was straightforward. We found the drink choice small but enough too. Nice selection of local Gins. 👌 Food came out about 15 minutes later which seemed about right. The chips were slightly salted but cold, this was disappointing. The Korean wing's came out which had a great crunch, good bite but be warned the heat sneaks up and turn out to be spicier than I like. Now the burgers, (we ordered a Signiture, Argentina, chilli and standard cheeseburger) we all very much enjoyed these with no complaints, certainly on par with the best burger joints in London. And, might be one of the best in Kent! The dips we ordered (and paid for) did not show and had to be asked for again. Ambiance was relaxed with wall TVs showing football. We spent £105 for four of us. So would I go back? For a good burger yes but loaded fries and wings, no there are...
