The George Inn — Restaurant in England

A little disappointed with our visit. After an overnight stay in Sandbach we wanted breakfast before a long drive home. Wetherspoons was the place as it offers choice for our dietary requirements. However, no soya milk meant no tea for me. I ended up running to the Costa round the corner, which cost nearly 3 x more. But I needn't have run as our food still had not arrived after 20 minutes - and several others who arrived after us had been served and finished - and I had gone and asked. Apparently our breakfast was unidentified but rather than coming around asking customers if they were waiting for this breakfast, the chef just stuck it under the heat lamp and waited for us to come to them. This resulted in the plates being seriously hot, the food dried up, moderately warm. I appreciate they were a member of staff down (announced very unprofessionally loudly between staff), so expected it could take longer, but to find the food had actually been waiting some time for want of a little proactive customer service, was disappointing indeed. Had we had time we would have asked...

What an amazing, last minute decision, experience. We decided to look for a wetherspoons, around 7pm thursday, on the way home from visiting family in middelwich. Parking was a little questionable as there are yellow lines all over the place, but there is a car park (paid) right next to it.

The pub is clean and quite pleasant for a family meal (not too loud like a lot of wetherspoons pubs). We ordered on the app as we were just passing through and the drinks came straightaway. Food followed around 15mins later. It was all freshly cooked, well cooked, and the portions were surprisingly large (even for wetherspoons standards). Staff are friendly and the public all seem very nice.

Had a mixed experience here, cheap drinks and nice modern atmosphere compared to most other Wetherspoons however the service wasn’t great. Staff behind the bar looked miserable like they hated their job, stood waiting at the bar with a menu to order for ten minutes for people to push in and got ignored by the staff so I went back to my table and my boyfriend ordered for us, some acknowledgement from staff would have been nice makes you feel unwelcome!

Food came quickly, my boyfriend enjoyed his pizza however mine was rather bland and felt like there was too much cheese and not enough tomato. Would come again but probably wouldn’t have the pizza and hope the service is better...
